Anyone have any nice fluid and quick ways of performing a "good enough" MS exam? I figure to do the spine you have to start with inspection: look at the back of the person 1. ensure a straight spine from occiput to glueal fold while saying "alright, no kyphosis, scoliosis, or any abnormalites, very healthy. I don't notice any bumps or bruises, or any tufts of hair that sometimes hint towards underlying abnormalities." 2. palpate all the spinous processes. empathize pain. 3. inspect the patient from the side to look at kyphosis and lordosis. 4. Face the patient and ask them to take chin and put it to the chest, and ear to shoulders, then look at the cieling. Empathize with pain. 5. Ask them to touch their toes and notice the type of movement. It should be a nice easy motion. Say " ok that is a nice fluid movement, and I see that back is of normal shape when you bend down." (no AS.) empathize with pain. 6. So now can any one help me out with the rest? something about twisting them around? wtf? Please help me fill in this part. I would really appreciate it.
