KGB is the Russian abbreviation for Committee for State Security, which was the umbrella organization serving as the Soviet Union's premier security agency, secret police, and intelligence agency, from 1954 to 1991.

Thanx Cma, I'm familiar with the term since I'm from Turkey, quite close to former Soviet states. And Puchpal, u better act fast cause capitalism is taking over those CIS states and they are losing their eccentricity. Downtowns of those states no longer reflect any face of the soviet times, rather McDonalds, Burger King, Mango, etc taking it over. I enjoy to walk to suburbs of these CIS states to observe and smell those soviet communistic times in air... its like travelling back in time, living that eccentricity.

newyg, thats why hate this cosmopolitisation of the world it was made as a rainbow , why dont we let it be that way. you wont belive , but as i came from delhi to new york.... i just thought i am in the same city......... eccentricity (?) individuality exoticism ,,,these will be words of history soon how i wish i had some money, and the first flight i will take will be to st petersburg and then to minsk.......... just pray that i get my residency and i wanna explore it all, and btw turkey too but you guys are also soon going to the EU .....So the land of caliphate will also be soon lost.....

Land of Caliphate is long gone my friend and I'm glad that that is gone cause I dont like the idea of a single ruler over the entire religion, doesnt make sense to the way I believe. Anyway, I was talking about "capitalism" taking over the former soviets, not cosmopolitanism. Regarding cosmopolitanism, I really enjoy how things work out in its own fashion when multiple nationalities are put into a bowl. I enjoy it, and thats the main reason I applied to many programs in and around NYC. Eccentricity is the pecualiarity of the communism to someone(thats me here) who comes from another regime, such as capitalism. I enjoyed to observe that such huge differences between countries ruled by different regimes.

im sorry if i offended you by saying this it must be a difference of oppinion , because we indians were ruled by the british and though its also long gone , but the impact it had cultrally or socially, at least an indian wont deny. and is palpable in india very clearly and i think without eccentricity the world will be a plain with no landscapes , and an oddity of thinking or being , yes it does spice up the things.

No, I'm not offended puchpal, the bluntness of written language can cause such misunderstandings and I was missing couple smileys here and there So, yeah I like it spiced up a little

You are more than welcomed in Turkey but before you come just make sure that I'm also there cause I spent most of my last 6months in USA than in Turkey Yeah, I'd love to set a meeting for psych IMGs at whichever city we match, that'd be nice to get to know our collegues before we hit the psych wards.
