all these procedures were used for a very long time on all kinds of people
to say that it is used "to erase etnicity" it's a stretch
what i found surprizing is that media takes a fact and stwists the way normal person would no think of the fact that way.
etnicity is much more complex term than just an outside picture
and plastic surgery was existing to date, representative of every nation (or almost every nation) on this planet had it done throughout sooooooo many years....it doesn;t seem to me that plastic surgery has anything to do with vanishing of any culture....but what to put on the top of tabloid to sell a product? right, SENSATION....oh, well.....

true to an extent. but you can't dismiss the fact that women do want to look a certain way only. we have become an image oriented society, and not just in one particular country but all this phenomenon is worldwide. the marks and standards of beauty are what's flashed at you on screen or in magazines...and those women are mostly white, tall, thin, long legs, etc etc. so at times it is about the desire to take on a look that's not your own but one that depicts someone else.

and that is why this has become so rampant and "extreme". when some girl sitting on the other side of the world wants her nose to look like paris hilton's, that is in essence changing her original look, isn't it? our facial features and physique are what identify us from one another, but if some girl ends up with a nose like paris hilton's, no one's gonna say that's a characteristic feature of that country, they're going to say it looks like so and so...on a subconscious level it is happening.

poor girl, who wants to have a nose of anyone, or someon's legs, or whatever.....it feels me very sad, but at the end of the day, plastic surgery of one girl or 100 girls is not going to "erase" etnicity, it will only erase that girl's individuality, but media tends to throw words lake that left and right, so people would get "wow"
problem of plastic surgeries to the extreme or what lies behind it - that is the whole other issue,
