Dear Friends:

If a person has a good score in USMLE and also has "Phd in neurosciences will that give a good chance of landing a neurosurgery residency! + some undergraduate research in Neuroscience

I have a PhD in Biomedical Engineering with surgical research, 99/99/CS/84, 3 papers as 1st author and numerous abstracts, 7 yrs out of med school. So far my stats for GS are : 1 interview, 8 rejections. Draw your own conclusions.

of course it will help man, I hope you applied to those programs that are MORE related to research, your background will fit better in those programs.
Also, hope your letters are good, some say that a mediocre letter is as good as a bad letter...
So far from this matching process I think that the most important fact to be called, is WHO you know, and HOW they know you...
great credentials, the best of lucks!cool
