Hello. Since I have never been to really cold places, I would like to know how should we dress up for interviews in cold places like Chicago, Ohio, NY, Pennsylvania, etc. during the months of Nov., Dec. - Jan.?

Any suggestions please?

Thank you in advance

Wear Thermal cloth inside

under armor is good stuff, not bulky at all, and keeps you really warm. Kinda pricey at $50 a pop though. Unless you know somebody, that knows somebody, that knows where it fell off the back of a truck.

Any more suggestions? Is it necessary to wear a wool overcoat on top of the suit in Chicago for mid-November?

I´m not planning to wear overcoat since almost every place has heating systems..., I would recommend to wear it if you´re going to walk long distances (which I doubt)..., otherwise you will need to carry your overcoat in your hands everywhere you go and/or find a place to leave it...

I think the suit, with gloves and even a scarf is enough..., wear thermal underwear if you get cold easily, but believe me you may be sweating in the middle of your ivsmiling face

I am sure just like PC's are nice enough to find a place to store a carry-on, they will probably take your overcoat too...and you can get it back at the end of the day....One may need an overcoat for places like Albany, Chicago in Dec-Jan

wearing a thermal is a very good idea but i'm not sure if that would be enough if someone isnt used to of cold harsh weather and if they are traveling thru subways and trains.
Goodluck everyone!

yes I agree with sarika.. most cold places.. have place to hang overcoat..
& thermals alone wont work with snow all over teh place.. I am not sure of my travel plans yet so I will better take it with me..

I would not count on hospitals being warm! I remember freezing myself to the bones inside the hospitals all the time in TMC (Houston), so I don't know... I even had to bring a sweater to the hospital on summer!! So I am bringing a coat everywhere, except miami!!

Now that we have decided to bring our coats, only problem remains is i bought my coat prior to the Interview-Dresscode-Era. This means an exceptional 3/4 length Wool coat which is so aristically tailored that if i wear it on something like Interview suit, it will mess up the suit beyond description.

Now i have to shop for an adequate overcoat that's loose enough to house an Interview-suit along with me......Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Only the PC will see the coat, besides, if you take it off as soon as you enter the building, who else will see? The cab driver - and do you care if he sees it????

More often than not, u will need to wear an overcoat if u are interviewing in thw winter months at plaes where it is harsh.....try BJ's or burlington coat factory....nice professional lookin ones for 60-100$....hospitals are usually heated up but u cud spend some time walking...on street, subway, train, etc....so it shud be a part of ur attire in my opinion....wud prefer an overcoat over thermals anyday.....wudnt want to sweat in the interview room.....the PCs usually have a rack to hang the coats in their office.....no big deal

gd luck

I live there so for november with your suit it will be enough. besides you will be inside and cook county could be bankrupt and everything, but they still have heating.

seriously the suit will do.
those termal will be unconftrable if you are not use to use it.
Mid november in chicago gets to mid 50 not so cold

My friend gogeta, I agree with yousmiling face...

Thank you all of you!!! So, now I am debating if to get the overcoat or not. So, gogeta, in your opinion it is enough with just the suit really for Chicago in November?

I live somwhere in upstate NY and believe me, it can get freaking cold here. Some days ago, some parts recorded temperatures in the 30s already. So, unless u were born in this type of environment, I stongly suggest you were a thermal coat underneath if you are going anywhere upstate like Buffalo, Albany, Troy etc.
And if in January, anywhere in NY is very cold. There's no way you'll sweat underneath bc the indoor temps are regulated to about 55 or so.
If you are hyperthyroid or sth, then that 's a diff case.
pls, dress warm underneath and carry a good coat as well so you don't end up shaking like a jelly fish during ur interview.

i went to pittsburgh, PA last year in dec, and i remember it was so cold that my hands practically felt like they were frozen popsicles when i removed them from my gloves for just a few minutes to take pictures along the way after my interview.....smiling face best to wear cashmere sweaters tooo they are really the best esp. if you feel chilly like me... I prefer having a thermal and overcoat as well since I am not at all used to the cold, hehesmiling face

  #23

Another option is to wear any jacket on top of the suit and take it off as soon as you get into the hospital...

  #24

I have an interview in wisconsin I guess I need to buy a coatshocked

You make me laugh GLO MD saying your were cold in Houston texas you truly have no idea what cold is then i lived in houston two years that is nothing you have lots to learn girl
