Regarding fluid correction, if you have a patient with diabetes insipidus who is hypotensive, what fluid do you use to correct the blood pressure? Do you use normal saline or 5% dextrose (tonicity like water)?

Thanks.

whenever ANYBODY is hypotensive....u have to first restore the plasma volume...which requires...NS ....once it's restored...then give the fluid that has been lost....

in diabetes insipidis....hypotonic fluid is lost...so 5% dextrose with half normal saline given

please correct me if I am wrong
