don't waste your money. This is a pretty straight forward exam unlike step I and CK

go through first aid

then go through UW

make sure you to the entire pt encounter timed with someone else. Repeat many many times.

should not take you more then 2.5 weeks to prepare for this exam. This exam was surprisingly "fun" compared to the other two.

I don't think you need a course...UW and FA are more than enough...but if you can't find a partner and money isn't an issue...kaplan offers a 5 and 6 day course. They charge about 3000 dollars for it though.

give me $2k, and I'll be your mock pt for a week, and also go through your pt note and let you know if it's acceptable, and were the deficiencies are. grin

I agree. Don't waste your money. I used an old FA and UW for 2 weeks and passed. Just find someone to practice with. Doesn't matter how many courses you go to, the real key is practice.

i agree practice is the key. having a real person to interact with you really helps. but if you can't find anyone, then the review classes are what you are really paying for... partners...

Just to give you a different opinion - I took Kaplan. I thought it was VERY expensive, but well worth it. I just took the Kaplan 6-day and the next day went to take the exam. The only other thing I had time for was reading a little of FA on the plane. I don't recommend you do it my way, but the course is very very good. And I passed.

BTW - at least half of the people taking the course with me had already taken the exam once before, after studying on their own. Whether or not you need the course depends, I think, on how comfortable you are interviewing patients in the US style.

Good luck.

I've heard good reviews about the C3NY course, I believe Dr. Mark Schwartz is the one that lectures there. It's a 3 day course.

Just so info...

I have attended a free lecture of Dr.Schwartz while he was a part of Kaplan. he was one of the creators for Kaplan CSA review course. and he was one of the original consultants for the CSA for ECFMG. and theauthor of the diagnosis book. and then he left Kaplan. and he created his own C3NY program. Originally the Kaplan course was 3 days, but it has since been expanded.

With that said, i was planning to take the course, but i had other financial obligations. so i studied on my own. using FA and UW and passed.

just be honest with yourself and see if you need to brush up on your interviewing skills and the need for practice partners.

and C3NY is only offered in NYC, so that can be expensive, but worth it if you are planning a vacation while you are studying.

good luck
