Kaplan Qbank USMLE

Hello folks
am a recently graduated IMG (07) and thinking of attending one of the live prep classes.
For an IMG what are the chances? are they worth the huge amount they charging? Any current statistics to show that IMG's do benefit from such 12-13 weeks live lectures?
I plan to give the exam a full shot, no distractions from work and all..just straight-up studying, what are my chances? I plan to use FA 07 and supplement with Kaplan, any better addition to improve my scores?

Great advices would be needed considering the huge financial cost ahead plus Externsorship Insurance bills then exam fess.

Thanks and i hope to be a good contributor to this forum, as it would be my new home for the next few months.

If you have no trouble with the language, I mean the medical terms, and have your first read done, you can take it.

I personally prefer books, cause I can not catch up with them. I have to translate everything into my native language in my brain first. And, I have no extra money.sticking out tongue

Yeah English is my mother tongue, and went to a med-school that taught in English, so that wont be a problem.

Trying to know which of the two is more advicable...

Kaplan VS Falcon?

Falcon is pretty much expensive, and revies/rating in here would help a fellow Dr.Bro out real good.

Thanks.

I agree with Rock&Roll, I have heard that those IMGs who do attend live lectures have already done one run through all the Kaplan notes (+/- videos) and hence benefit more, cos it is very fast paced and hard to keep up if you haven't done it before. But then again, it depends on how strong your basics are (esp since you are a recent grad, might be fresh). If you are as motivated as you sound, you could do it with the books + dvds/ center prep. Personally, I preferred the Center prep, cos it gave me more time and flexibility to tailor it to suit my own speed of learning.

You might wanna do some self-analysis before you cough up so much dough! Good luck!nod

Thanks.

So u suggest i buy the books, read them before i enrole into the prog.? Since they still provide you with the lecture notes again, i guess buying the used versions online would be appropriate?

Thanks once again.

i took kaplan and passprogram.

I recomend pass over kaplan. Once you complete the 4 week pass program go back and go over the kaplan notes. no need for the lectures.

hi...bigtymer84.... 1 of my frndz took kaplan live lectures...2 more r abt 2 leave 4 us...
the main reason y they opted 4 live lectures is visa issue....all 3 of them got 5yrs multiple entry visas... other than that i don`t think thr is any additional advantage in that....
