Hey BBB.. I have this question that i think you are the best to answer. Is this year the most competitive match year in terms of number of applicants and their credentials or is it the same every year.. specially as compared to last year. I am curious.

I'm about 200 applications ahead of last year. About 600 ahead of the year before.

I have seen more 99/99 this year than I have in my career. I didn't know that you could get a 273!!!confused

Applicants are more demanding this year than I ever remember in my life. One person changed from day 1 to day 2 to day 3, then is now pissed at me because they want day 1 again and I filled it. Good. Be pissed. It's filled.

Yes, no, sort of . We are not interviewing lots of the 99/99 people and interviewing upper 80/low 90's. It's a crap shoot.

thanks bbb......since u say that there are more double 99s this year and i am sure they must be applying to lots of programs too, what then happens to those with scores in the 85 - 94 range. Will they get ivs later once these guys cancel. How then do programs decide to call pple with lower scores? Will they fill all their iv slots with 99ers ?

I know it's intruding, and off course you dont have to answer it...but did u invite the one with 273??? agian I apolozise for being intrusive..

Again, I think a lot of you are equating 99/99 to GUARANTEED spotin [blank] program. This is not the case. Your scores get you interviews.........the rest is up to you to convince that program that you are a good candidate.

Yes competition is high. It is every year. Remember, roughly 50% of IMGs match, and Im sure it will be the same this year. Gran your IVS, and take advantage of them. Dont compare yourselves to the 99er.

I agree that its a crap shoot like bbb says I applied to a very competitive ob/gyn program I have high 70 and low 80 on my tests and I was invited for an interview you want to know my reaction it was thisshocked I thought I had no chance i guess I do

Congrats, ram3.

People, don't let anxiety get the best of you. There's nothing you can do about the scores, they are there, already. There will always be better scores out there, but there are worse, too. Keep a positive attitude, try and read about interviews and trust yourself. Good luck! Everything will be fine at the end.nod
