madoo wrote: barton fracture is intraarticular fracture or dislocation of the distal radius chauffeur fracture of radial styloid "maybe during driving" there many other fancy eponym but don't know if the eponym is important or u should only know just the fracture description there is bennet , boxer , monteggia , gamekeeper thumb , jersey finger , mallet finger , trigger finger i think u should know the name and types of salter harris fractures Yes, Bartons also results from a fall on the outstretched hand and is an intraarticular fracture of the dorsal margin of the distal radius. Chauffeur is a fracture of the styloid process -called that because it was an injury of people trying to crank cars which backfired causing injury -in the old days. Salter harris fractures are fractures of the growth plate in Children... Can you explain more about those? Thanks.

to understand salter harris we just need to review the anatomic regions of long bone we have the diaphysis which is the middle part of the bone towards the bone end we have the metaphysis then the physis "the growth plate" and the epiphysis is the end of bone in salter harris there is a fracture of the physis and the types of salter harris depend on how the fracture is bad and if the metaphysis or epiphysis are fractured or not there is five types type I if the physis is only separated but if it is crushed it is type V type II if the metaphysis and the physis are involved in the fracture type III if the epiphysis and the physis are involved type IV if the metaphysis with the epiphysis and the physis are involved "typeII + type III" actully there is intraarticular fracture extending across the physis to the metaphysis u can also learn them as mnemonic salter depending on the fracture site S separation of physis> type I A above the physis "metaphysis"> type II L lower to the physis "epiphysis"> type III t trough metaphysis and physis to the epiphysis >type IV E R Everythynig is Ruined >type V for treatment u can treat type I and II nonoperatively but the rest u must treat them operatively because they tend to be unstable and to prevent complications as leg length inequality better to know it through a diagram http://www.gpnotebook.co.uk/simplepage.cfm?ID=879...
