so i sat for my CK on the 18th of Oct in Dublin, Ireland. I was lucky to get this date cause i just found it 2 weeks before, and dublin is usually booked fully months in advance. however when i arrived the test centre hadnt registered me as a test taker as my name was not on their system! i showed them my confirmation and they then proceeded to call headquaters in holland. whole debacle took 45 minutes - no fun. exam itself was very tough i thought. but that was mostly my fault as i had not touched a single CK book since April 2007. even then it was periodic reading. i graduated in july 2007 and started prep for CK officially in august 2007 while working 65 hrs a week in hospital (including calls). my studying was therefore limited to listening to kaplan video lectures on my mp3 player and doing usmleworld. i did it by subject and was scoring about 68%. i did nbme 1 in aug 24 and scored 610. then listened to 70% of lectures and did nbme2 on 11 oct and scored 670. usmle cd i scored 43/42/42. no other questions done. exam itself was tough i thought. lots of trick questions andmany a times stem has nothing to do with question. i utilised highlighting function by highlighting the end of a question stem before reading the question from the top. also highlighting consumes a bit more time, but it helps in being thorough. 3 out of 8 blocks i felt very pressured on the last question, with 1 block i had only 20 seconds by time i arrived on last question. otherwise timing wise was fine. no new media questions at all. overall ithought the exam was really tough. definitely MUCH tougher than NBME or USMLECD and possibly as tough as uSMLEWORLD. one thing i noticed though for the stuff i knew, the other options that were wrong were very obviously wrong - so sometimes its possible to guess the write answeer even though youre not too sure... anyway lets hope i get my results 3 weeks after the exam cos i need to get my ecfmg certification ASAP.. im applying for this yrs match. hope this helps, let me know if i can help in any way, oh one thing i think is important to address ishow would i have done the exam differently? i would listen to the Kaplan lectures really well cos those lectures hit the question spots quite well i feel. dharjma
