hi guys and girls,

i have a qs abt cal letter. i have deficiency in PTAL for psychiatry and peads. My med school wont correct my transcript even though i have done enough weeks , so only option left for me is to do another three weeks to cover that deficiency.

I have not yet applied to medical board for the cal latter.but i am going to work for 3 weeks as i am going to my home country and get a seperate letter from my med school. and then submit the whole application.

MY qs
1) Do i need any specific letter from medical board to do that 3 weeks in my med school.
2) will the medical board accept the letter separately , even though it is not mentioned in the transcript.

Iam jus worried when i go to my college and do the 3 weeks and get a letter , madical board wont reject my application

i tried calling the board many times , but could not get thru, So if any one knows ans to this please help me....i ll be grateful ......

thanks a lot

hey Pinky,

If you have rotations given in weeks say 4 weeks ,submit just that trancript. Dont submit your hours certificate.MBC needs 4 weeks minimal in pschyc, so if you have that submit it first because it takes 2 months for them to give a reply even.

Hi Pinkypossible,

Heres what I think may be done:

1. You can take a print out from Cal Med Board site about required no. of weeks of rotation they mention in the website and give it along with an application cover letter to your medical school.

( I am saying this coz what I understood from your post is you have not yet applied to the cal board and read the requirements on the site and saw the deficiency that is there and want to give a complete application when you do so )

2. You have to send the ORIGINAL Document you get from your medical school after completing the rotation with deficiency, along with the other documents/transcript .

I am saying this coz, when I applied for PTAL there was no deficiency but my transcript was kinda confusing and Cal med board asked for documentation from my med school again stating clearly the no. of weeks of rotaion to be mentioned clearly in psych and Family Medicine. I send the original document given by the med school for reconfirmation.

Also make sure that any document you get from the school is on the letter head of school or has the stamp and sign and (dated properly) of the dean clearly.

Hope this helps...
