dude/dudette !!!! Your aim in joining medschool and becoming a doctor is NOT to only pass the USMLE. it IS to become a good and knowledgeable doctor. which you will become only if you get medicine thorougly. which can only be done through textbooks and then practise. know and apply. review books are not for that. they are only to pass the USMLE. so i suggest, please go back to (i mean start) textbooks. know medicine!!!!!!!

Learned medicine with review books? You will probably do well on test. But do you really know medicine? Go back and read up on those texts!

If I were you, I would read those big books. Reasons: 1, I can not understand what they are talking about in the notes if I have never read texts. Even I did, I still need to go back to have a look sometimes. 2, They are testing why and how mostly, not what. In the text books, you can find more basic concept. It's very important, not only for step 1 but also for your clinical study. 3, Maybe you can pass the exam by only using Kaplan notes, but it's hard to get 99. After reading some 99ers posts, and you can find most of them have big books beside their hands. Don't worry, just pick those books up, and you will find out that the notes are so easy to read and understand later. You think you will waste time on the textbooks? No, you will actually save time in the whole prep. That's my two cents. Good luck!
