I had one query...what are the standard treatment guidelines for giardiasis in pregnant women( 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester).

Furazolidone is the STANDARD treatment of giardiasis for Pregnant women. No teratogenicity has been reported.

Thanks sprint123. I though so too ..but on the usmleworld cases they named paramomycin as approved for giardiasis(pregnancy).

I read somewhere that the DOC in first trimester is PARAMOMYCIN because it is not systemically absorbed but you can also give Metronidazol in 3nd`trimester ( Goup B teratogenicity )
