hey everyone.
kind of joining this party late.hope there's room.
i guess i should also be on the low scorers thread....83/88/pass/no usce/mph from here in the US/2 research exp and publications/need visa/2004 graduate with excellent lors and mspe.
here's the crazy part. i applied LAST week to 50 IM programs. i know........sticking out tongue save it!
2 rejections from abington and monmouth.i 1 acknowledgement from st peter's/drexel.no ivs.
i hope u all haven't grabbed the available spots with all the ivs i see.
plz, all ye 99ers need to start cancelling ivs from places u know u'll never touch with a 10-foot pole so poor souls like us can get noticed.

Most 99ers do have the uncertainty and anxiety like u have, as we never know how many ivs we need to match, so kindly hang there for a while. The game is just beginning. nod

guys, i have a (slightly ridiculous) question- is it possible for de ecfmg to send wrong scores on the transcript?! could my 99/99 possibly have been mistakenly sent as 89/89?!!! applied to 50 programs on the 25th of september and only 2 interviews so far. worried sick sad

(99/99/pass/no USCE, need visa)

hi physio freak...

I dont think that's a possibility. I feel it's a highly competitive year.

I'm not satisfied with the IVs I have received so far. Yes, at times I wonder whether there is something wrong with my application. My friends with very similar credentials had twice as many IVs by this time last year!!.But I think its the competition that has changed the scenario. I'm quite sure that they don't even have enough time to review all qualified applications. Nor do they have time to wait till the deadline date. For eg. some programs take applications till Dec 15th. What if they receive 2000 applications in first month?? Once they select enough candidates for IV, they stop considering the rest of applications unless the candidate is very unique!!

My opinion

thanks for your input drgeorgie. guess i messed up by applying late- thought sep 25th wasnt too bad, but it looks like it does make a huge difference! nyway i see uv got great interviews, so good luck!

  #113

ya sep 25th and lack of USCE might be disadvantageous..

but there is still time..almost 5 more weeks to go. lots of univ will send calls after the MSPE is released

Dear Applicant, Thank you for your interest in the Internal Medicine Residency TrainingProgram at Good Samaritan Hospital of Maryland. I am disappointed to reportthat we are unable to offer you an interview for either the categorical orpreliminary programs. This has been the most competitive year that I haveexperienced in my 20 years of reviewing applications. We have received over3500 applications for a total of 16 positions. The Intern Selection Committeewas charged with the challenging task of carefully reviewing all theapplications. Though we found most applications to be worthy andwell-qualified, we are unable to offer invitations for interview to everyonewhom we wished we could meet. We are certain that you will be successful inreaching your career goals and obtaining a residency training position of yourchoice. We thank you again for your consideration of our program.
