hi guys,
i need your help in something... i am an IMG who have passed step 1 with descent scores. and I am a U.S. citizen

for my rotations I have an option of doing it in U.S or abroad either in India or Caribbean or england. where do u think i should do? should i do it in U.S. or abroad ? what does the residency program directors in U.S. look for? does it really matter where i do it?

Personally I think I can learn more overseas in terms of more hands on clinical experience.

Any Advice will be appreciated!!!

P.S. I am a newbie so I dont know If this is the right forum where I should be Posting.

US for SURE

if u have more than 1 yr of postings, may be u can add some 1-2 months somewhere else...that would add a different perspective to ur career..and a different flavour to ur application..

but USCE is the best for you..atleast 1yr duration

well wolverine the reason why i was so puzzled is that. I am a caribbean IMG and I know few freinds doing their rotations in U.S , India, and Caribbean also. I asked them lot of q's regarding where is the best place to do it and they all said that if you do it in either india or carib you will have more hands on training i.e. learn more by more interaction with the patients and stuff.(actually get to touch the patient) as compare to doing it in U.S. where the patient is paranoid even if you are resident. but i know in the end its all about getting a residency in U.S. and what looks good in your resume. so i guess USCE really helps so i will go with that and try to be an active observer in my rotations.

anyways thank you for your advice!!!

On paper USCE is more valuable. If you want to travel around the world and see diseases you've only read about then India is the place to be. It all boils down to what YOU want to do and how you want to benefit from it.
