hi friends, i am planning to go to Detroit from NJ but i have heard greyhound being unsafe during night hours. otherwise timings and prices suits me a lot compared to costly airfairs and multi-connected amtrack trains. please guide me. Do you know if cabs/rental cars easily availbale around bus termials? What precautions should I take while traveling through greyhound.? comments regarding this issues are invited.

book early and fly. train is not too bad either. greyhound sucks b/c you stop in every small little city along the way. So it takes alot longer to get anywhere. Bus stations tend to be in the "bad" part of town. But just don't do anything to draw attention to yourself and keep a low profile. You should be fine. www.southwest.com www.jetblue.com www.sidestep.com good websites for cheap airfare. again book early, alot of times you can get flights for $39 one way.

well, the main drawback in Greyhound for me is that lately they became extremely behind the schedule, you can spend up to 2 hours standing in line and no one will come and say when they anticipate your bus to depart, and as a result you arrive at your destination later than you planned, so......i would stay aways from GH for this reason alone.
