Thanks for answering everyone. Yes, I think I would have helped a lot if I had the Certificate. I would have just been too late to applied if I had kept waiting. I still don't have it yet I will keep my hopes high and maybe wait a little more until I start begging.. haha, I meant writing letters!

Do you have to have at least one application to a program in ERAs in order to scramble. Or is scramble just basically pick up the phone and fax them your info deal? thanks

I think you also have to be ECFMG cetified by a certain date to participate in the scramble, right? Anyone know the deadline by which we should be certified? Thanks.

During the 48 hours of the Scramble, there is no time for manual processing. Your file must be ready for automatic processing by our system before the Scramble begins. This means: - Two weeks before the Scramble, you must apply to at least one program at MyERAS.
- If you are sending us new or replacement LoRs, we must have them at least two weeks prior to the Scramble. If you have a new or additional LoR, assign it immediately to one of your original programs. This gives us time to attach it before the Scramble.
- If you are sending us a replacement LoR from the same writer, attach a note to it that reads, "This replaces the previous LoR." Otherwise, we might mistake it for the LoR we have already scanned and discard it without scanning.
- You must also make sure that all of your documents have been received and assigned, so that we can attach and transmit them before the Scramble.
- If you are planning to apply during the post-Match Scramble only, you must still apply to at least one program about one week before the Scramble.
- You cannot make changes to your CAF, however you can update your Profile at any time.

DrVirgo, as far as I know you've gotta be ECFMG certified before the ROL deadline in February if you're participating in the match. Not sure what the rule is for post-match scramble. It might be the same.

Thanks doc1981 January 15th -Rank order list begins February 27th -Rank order list certification deadline. I think it would be best to have the ECFMG certification by the beginning of January. But is there an official deadline by which if we are not ECFMG certified, we cannot participate in the Match??? I would like to know a date so I can scheule my exam asap.

You must be ECFMG certified by the rank order list certification deadline otherwise you will be withdrawn from the match.

"The NRMP and ECFMG will exchange applicant information once each week between now and the rank order list deadline, which occurs during the third week of February. Immediately after the ranking deadline, one final exchange will occur. Applicants who are not verified by the date of the final exchange will be withdrawn automatically from the Match and their rank order lists will not be used when the matching algorithm is run. Those applicants still will have access to the List of Unfilled Programs that is published on Tuesday of Match Week."

ok an update. I applied to three programs this past Sunday. I recieved a phone call just now from one of the FM programs. He asked why I'm applying so late, and I told him my reason was I was waiting till I had my step II score. He said the interview spots are filled. But also said to call his office once I had my step II score. That's it. So to anyone out there in a similiar position, go ahead and apply.

Hello everyone! I didn't know this thread existed and that there were people like me! I learned alot from this thread and up till know did not apply to any programs, but reading Doc750 's post I have some encouragement and I will apply soon! By the way just to correct some misnomers here, I did contact nrmp, I emailed and asked them about my situation, about not being certified in time for the Feb deadline, and they said that if i apply before the deadline but do not meet requirements I will be withdrawn from the match BUT I CAN still scramble! SO just to correct anyone who has doubts, you can scramble if you don't participate in the match as long as you apply before the deadline. After that it's up to the program to accept you or not, and after reading this thread it looks like you have to apply to at least one program also. That's good hope for anyone, and better than nothing for me! Good luck to you all!
