ok, am posting this here as well as the IM forums (don't know where this applies most) Creds first : 94/80/passed (all 1st attempts), writing Step 2 in Dec, need H1, grad 2005 I applied to 53 IM programs, and so far, have received 2 IV offers and 4 rejections. I really need to apply leave from work for the interviews soon (not to mention book flights/accomadation/etc) When should I start getting worried that i haven't heard back from so many programs i.e. when do most programs respond by? would really appreciate any advice in this regard. PS. will post the answers to both forum threads, in case, anybody else is wondering the same q.

Hi there, Each program operates differently. Some send ivs in the order that they receive; some wait until after they receive MSPE on Nov 1; some send rejections, others do not even bother, etc. From my friends' experience, they still received ivs at the end of December. If you need to take time off from work, I'd suggest taking a few weeks off in January for interviews. GL!

Sadly, from what I hear, most programs don't reply.

Damn, the 'no reply' thing is annoying and just plain rude. It's not like the e-mail costs me money. I already have the 2 interviews in Dec, guess will have to take time off in Jan as well. Work is not gonna be happy about this. Thanx again for the help. This forum is truly a godsend.

If they don't reply, why do they seem to get upset when people call to ask about their status? What do they expect?

From last year's experience, 10% programs replied in first 3 weeks of my application, another 30% replied by Dec 31st, 5-10% more replied after my repeated "coaxing" for a reply (most rejections, but a couple of ivs too) and the rest just didnt bother to reply. The fabled "November Rain" (any GNR fans?) is actually a fable for most imgs - I did not notice any rain of replies post Nov 1. More accurately, it was an "even drizzle" of replies throughout the season, with its idiosyncrasies. Btw, I applied rather late last year: mid Oct and my total number of applications were 55, I think Ah..fond memories....:-) Howdy bbb?

lol, November Rain - never heard of that term. Well, am hoping for atleast a shower/drizzle - only have 3 IV's so far, and now 5 rejections. Will get my coax on probably nearer Jan. Fingers crossed here. Good luck to anyone else in the Match reading this.
