Kaplan Qbank USMLE

-If you get low scores on Qbank or UW, don’t torture yourself and waste your time by being depressed. I experienced a lot of bad feelings almost every time I did those tests, with scoring around 38%-50% on Qbank and 48% on UW. Comparing with others’ scores, I scared to death…felt hopeless…even burst into tears…But really I should use the time to study harder. The most predictable test for me is NBME exam. I just took NBME 1/1 week before the exam; score 440, that is 204/84 according to their estimation.

-The real exam is not easy but fair. Feeling easy or difficult is really just a subjective feeling based on everyone’s preparation. If you know about the underlying point of one specific question they test on, you think it’s easy, but for those who are not familiar with the topic, they feel it’s hard. Especially for me, I focused almost solely on FA, although I read through FA no less than 5-6 times, the coverage of knowledge of FA is limited so I had to make a lot of guesses in the real exam. But when I made those guesses, I knew they were trying to test some important points that I couldn’t memorize or didn’t know. My feeling of the exam is that the questions can reflect your master of the knowledge pretty precisely.

-Be proud for yourself even if you didn’t get a dream score like others, especially for IMGs. A lot of people like me have to work full-time in totally unrelated field and deal with all kinds of (family/emotional/life/work) issues during the preparation, so just passing the exam deserves a big applause to yourself. I bought a $600 digital camera for myself as a reward. Although I am really worried about my chances of getting a residency with this score, I am happy it is finally over.

-Stay positive & work hard, you will get what you deserve. No matter how difficult your situation is.

-BTW, I really admire those people who get high scores in the exam. They are my hero.
