why do people apply to peds as a back up.....i feel peds has a better lifestyle,less to cram...
is it because of the money.....
how is peds is it not competetive or something

i have wondered the same. not many are applying to it in the first place, and the ones who do apply, treat it as back-up. i have no idea why.
it has about the same competitiveness as FM/IM, maybe slightly more. paywise, it is a primary care field, so not easy to make millions, though you're pretty well off. as far as lifestyle goes, it's busy, esp initially. but, if you love kids, where's the stress??? beats me!
any more perspectives out there?
