A 40 y.o. male presents with headache, weakness and weight gain.PE reavelas puffiness of the face and BP 160/75 mm Hg, fasting plasma glucose 200mg/dl,serum Na 150 mmol/L,serum K 3.1 mmol/L. His plasma cortisol level is High. Administration of low and high dose of cortisol fail to suppress the plasma cortisol level.His plasma corticotrpin is 0.8 pg/ml. In this patient,which of the following lesions is mot likely ?

a.-Adenoma of right adrenal cortex with atrophy of contralateral adrenal cortex
b.- Small cell carcinoma of the lung

Let s repeat in other words what nnl has explained very well

1.-Glucocorticoid secretion from an adrenal neoplasm suppresses corticotropin production by the pituitary, which leads to atrophy of the contralateral adrenal cortex.

2.-An adrenal cortical adenoma that secretes aldosterone doesn t cause atrophy of the contralateral adrenal cortex.
