This journal place is really dead. Unlike Step one forum when I was studying there. That was a real fun play ground and we all just had to be good. I miss that bunch.
Any way since I have started studying I bought me the crush step 3. I just cannot study from the old book that I have. It has been abused. Not used. I also got Swanson. I have been reading about it every where. I figure more questions to practice the better.
I didnt listen to the remaining tapes. Wasted my evening. have to work on time management. After the 2 days away from where I am.. I need to work on a time table.
Also FA has 100 mini cases any one interested in discussing them with me?

I have to rush myself this morning. The SP wants to start at 10. Wont make it. I hope she is around at 11. Else I am on my own and will make this a good day. Bye for now.

Sindy: I haven't started with crush yet. The study partner I am studying who seems really well prepared swears by the book. So do all the pople I have spoken to.
Strength: 22nd and 23rd Jan. If I get a good plan and dates earlier in Jan I might even pre-pone. But I read that we under estimate this exam. So I do plan to give it my best.
Mytime: One of my favs from step one is here. YAhoooo's. Well I got started cos u asked me to,  I can't blame you man, but you have done really well. This is only the last step. Just go for it.
SP update : We started at 11 this morning and in 3 hours we discussed all CNS CCS cases. On Saturday we shall start Crush with CVS and continue with CCS CVS.
There are a 100 mini cases in FA. Some one interested in going over them?

Gl. btw I too got almost same dates as you. 22nd & 25th jan
prepone this one.. hmmm ppl say we really underestimate this one. but I guess this one is going to be easier for you 'cos of ur clinical exp.
do you think FA minicases are worth doing?? atleast for me. it seems so less info. I wont be able top keep patient alive with taht atleast.

Kity: I don't plan to prepone it. I agree this exam is not going to be easy for anyone. I am doing FA over and above the other material I have. Hope you have found the study partner you have been looking for. Good luck to you too. See ya around.

USG: I havent had a chance to compare the 2. So I can't really tell you. how ever like common consensus I doubt the Kaplan notes can really prepare us for this exam. It stops at reaching diagnosis the notes and lectures. That isnt the point of this exam as I see it.
Hence I am going to go through Crush, FA and swanson after these Kaplan lectures. I plan to be donw ith lectures soon.

Paheli: so nice to see you here. How are you doing? Listen I am really lost as to what you are doing. Leave me a pm and let me know. I should have been paying attention so now I can pull you up on it.
Didn't read anything yesterday. I am on a hi after my trip to the hospital that I have been trying to get attached. They have said I can join them. but I have notthing on paper. So the high is there but with a touch of caution.
I know there may be no point in applying now, but I have been adviced that for applications that are still being accpeted I should apply. One never knows what might click.
So here I am waiting for my SP to start cardio with me. What a coincidence. She is the same person who a long time ago wrote me a very encouraging post when I was down in the dumps and was lost. I can't wait to thank her in person.
Here Kity, AleaxA, Sindhu etc I hope you guys are studying. I see no updates but hope you are at it.

I called up the first set of hospitals today. Inspite of last dates being in March the interview spots are all filled I hear. This means i have to sit at the computer a lot more. Call up more hospitals and find that one spot meant for me. This is not going to be easy. Considering I plan to do this first thing in the morning I know I am in for bad starts every morining. Oh well. I have to do this. there is no way out.
I also have to get step 3 out of my way. The study partner has an exam is 5 days. So understandably we wont be studying together. which is fine. She has got me on a roll and I am loving it.
I plan to start UW MCQ's today at some point. 1300 questions. If I do 50 questions every day I would finish in 26 days. Just in time for my exam on 22nd and 23rd. I might stick to my dates instead of pre-poning.
I have now listened to ER, Cardiology, Neurology, Pediatrics tapes. I need a little more planning and a time table now.
I have discussed Neurology, Peds, CVS CCS cases with my SP.
Hmm need to buck up a lot. I am not sure how today will unfold but I have to get started now.
Keepgoing: Thanks a ton for your wishes. Also thanks for coming around and checking in on me. You should have been done with step one by now. What is going on?It never gets easier. So please get done with the exams. There is so much more to it.

Paheli : This will be hard for you to believe but getting the steps done is only half the battle. The real thing starts when you start applying. Hence all you lovely ppl out there who have been studying for step one for almost a year now kindly get done with it.
I shoud get my brand new crush step 3 today. In any case I shall be starting with UW questions today. Will be starting with peds. It remains by far the most daunting subject for me.

My day just got made. Star moon and AlexaE are at it and they are motivating me to join them. I know I said I plan to complete the Crush book once before this week as I will be completing Kaplan lectures by this week. I can. there is only one issue my book hasn't arrived yet. Today I hope.
Will come back mid day with my concrete plan for the next 20 days. As I am going to do this and I am going to do this well.

It is funny how you always had a lot of time and then one morning you get up to realise, there is no time left.
I have 26 days left for my exam and very honestly speaking I haven't done everything I could have or should have. Where why what happened I don't want to get into.
I am finally out with all that I had originally planned to do and here is what I have to do.
Theory:
Swanson: 142 problems, 325 cases.
Kaplan Lecture notes: 265 cases
FA 17 problems, ? cases +100 CCS cases
Q bank:
Kaplan Q book: 850Q's.
UW: 1300 MCQ's + 88 CCS cases
USMLE step123 ? MCQs + 40 CCS cases.
Pan to complete first reading in 10 days. Which equates to
Swanson: 14 problems or 32 cases
KLN: 26 problems
FA: 2 Problems.
I plan to start with 100 Qs every day and make it better from there.
Today's plan: Pediatrics:
Swanson 25 problems, 62 cases, ( will do half of them today)
KLN: 29 cases,
FA + KQB: 100 qs. +50 qs from UW.
I have already done the UW CCS cases.

Have done 25 questions from KQbook. Got 8 correct. That is some reality check. Have read 12 pages out of 22 from Crush Peds and half of FA. Have to read KLN and Swanson. But first back to Crush and FA.

I have completed reading FA and Crush peds. I have done 2 cases from Swanson. Long way to go here. Might leave KLN notes for now. Will go to UW questions at some point tonight.
