Current mammography screening guidelines by the American Cancer Society include a mammogram every year starting at age 40 & continuing for as long as a woman is in good health. There is no upper age limit at which mammogram screening is no longer indicated. Women with a strong family history of breast cancer( mother, sister) should begin mammogram screening 5 years earlier than the age at which the youngest family member was when diagnosed with breast cancer. Any concerning palpable mass or abnormality seen on radiologic imaging should be biopsied to obtain a pathologic diagnosis. Needle aspiration for palpable cystic lesions. Fine-needle aspiration biopsy for palpable solid mass. Excisional biopsy is performed if the FNA does not obtain fluid or tissue or if the mass turns out to be solid & also if citology is nondiagnostic

PERASPERA this link said -annual scrrening mammography with clinical exam age 40 years (this setting os not screening yet) -mammography is considered inappropiate in pcte younger than 35 y. however, many center are now using mammography in pcte aged 30 y. and older who are in high-risk groups.
