I have been a silent follower of this forum for a long time. U guys r really gr8 and give me lots of hope.
I need to vent out my frustration please. I applied to IM match last year but didnt match. This year I have received a decent number of calls but my problem is that I havent been working since the last year. I have been looking to do some research as a volunteer for the last several months but things havent worked out. I feel terrible abt this and each time I think abt myself attending an iv I hear myself answering the q ' wht have u been doing' sadsad
I m desparate to work but ....

You can not change anything so you have to be prepared to answer to that question- try to be honest . If they called you means they know you have some blank spots in your resume but could be OK with them!
Good luck!

sit on google tonight. Find all the research labs in your area. Get their address, print out copies of your resume. Then physically go to each lab and talk to the guy (cough cough or girl) in charge and ask them for any position. Even if all your doing is washing the dishes. Get your foot in the door and move up from there.

good luck

And what's wrong with the truth? "I've been studying for the exams, and in the process of looking for an observership or research opportunities. During which time I also - moved to this country/worked full time/did this and that..... I am involved in an on-line study group with physicians from around the world"

Take what you have been doing and spin it to the most very positive you can without lying about it.

Good luck

Thank you so much bbb for that uplifting post! I am an IMG, who went to graduate school here in the US, and was worried sick that I am taking some time off after graduating, to prepare for step 1 (yes long way to go smiling face )

You are so kind to help us folks with your invaluable input and encouragement! God bless!nod

Thanks BBB for ur input, u r truly brilliant. The truth is dt I got married and have been a homemaker for last 4 mnths. I have usce but nothing active for the last year. I see this as a big negative in my cv.
Thanks a ton for ur input I wish I had part of ur common sensewink
