Finally today i came back to my senses and booked the flights and hotels. If a program is providing you a subsidized rate for hotel, book it soon or they wont have that special rate for too long.
Most nearby hotels or motels will be willing to pick you up from airport or nearby amtrak or other station but you need to ask for it and confirm. If you do that last minute, they might not have enough shuttles available and you will have to pay for the cab. Confirm your ride a week from your scheduled arrival.
I havent reserved/purchased my Amtrak tickets yet. You guys think i should do that now too, my raeson for delaying that was just in case if something changes but if its necessary i will do that too. What say you?

I love Amtrak. I travel to a trade show every year on Amtrak. The further out that I book my ticket - the cheaper. Book online, then pick up your ticket at the station the day that you travel. Also, if you don't pick up the ticket, it's 100% refundable. Nice, comfortable way to travel.
