hi i've been a silent reader the past months, but i have a question that's been bugging me and i hope someone/everyone can shed some light on it... I'm an average IMG applicant, mid 80s scores/CS pass/step 3 75 (all first attempts done in a year); needs visa, with some USCE and research and US lors - applied to 60 fm programs on sept 10. Those 60 programs i applied to were carefully selected regarding their criteria on scores/usce/visa, so that i won't waste any money applying to those i won't outright get through the filters. I've been monitoring the forums for invites and rejections, and i noticed that some programs i applied to sent out rejections already...but haven't heard from any of them yet. For example, i see some receiving a rejection from UIC rural track (FM), from louisiana (shreveport)-FM, and also talahasee florida-fm....all these were in my list but i haven't received a rejection from them..nor an interview. Is it because i "MAY" be included in their prospect invitees? or they just haven't gone through my application yet. But my question is..... IS IT POSSIBLE for them to send rejections to SOME applicants, while other rejectees won't even hear from them. I Know for countless times this has been discussed... and the usual reply is "it varies from program to program", BUT my question is...if a program does decide to send out rejections...do they send rejections to ALL rejectees? or just selectively. in these trying times, i would like to believe that i'm still being considered/my application is still being reviewed... but it would really just raise false hopes IF they just selectively send out rejections.

Some send rejections to all applicants they do not want. Some send rejections to some applicants they do not want and not to others they do not want. Some send do not send rejections to anyone.

Hi carlosvedra: ...I am also waiting from programs that sent rejections allready.... so maybe we are on a waiting list or our application has not been reviewed yet. Hope to get some light from those programs in the near future.... If on a waiting list you can get IVs up to January as some applicants sign prematches or cancel interviews. it's also possible that some do not send rejections to applicants they do not want...as silenced says, but I don't understand that reason ...maybe PC's just forget to send those rejections...

wow. that definitely burst my bubble. Don't get me wrong, I'm a very positive person, I look at the bright side of things always...and throughout this match process, i have been EXTREMELY patient. I know we are IMGs and e need to comply to all the rules/criterias, that's why I have been so tolerant about so many things. But, wow, forgetting to reject someone when they actually SEND rejections...I'm really sorry, but perhaps I didnt cancel my scheduled interview, and you have been waiting for me to show up....just because i "forgot" to send an email cancelling it, I'm fairly sure the PC/PD will understand that. Pardon my sarcasm. SUre, reviewing 3000-4000 applicants is a pain in the neck. believe me, it is. I was recently involved in research and I have to review 2000 patient hospital files, and it took me a month to finish it. It is really stressful reviewing 3000 applicants and pick out the best...WE understand. But I hope YOU (PC/PD) also understand the stress and anxiety of learning someone is rejected from a hospital I have applied into and I haven't received a single word from them... that's just raising false hopes. And that DOESN'T compare to the stress one has to go through in reviewing those 3000 files. I was brought up to give courtesy every chance i can get. I'm not asking programs to send out rejections if they really don't give out rejections. WE UNDERSTAND THAT. Instead, I'm talking about those programs who, selectively sends rejections to some, and to others, none. I'm sure they will get pissed off if I did the same... letting them hope that I'll be coming for an interview, but i don't. Sorry just venting out.

jazmil wrote: I feel you carlos but its out of our hands. All we can do is wait. yeah i know its out of our hands. But what i'm getting pissed about is we can wait all we want, but what we're waiting for might not even come. Program A already sent out rejections, You applied to program A, you didn't receive a rejection neither an interview. So what will you think, either your application is not yet reviewed or they are considering you. But that guy who received the rejection applied later than you did, so for sure your application was already reviewed. The only thing possible is you're still considered because you haven't received any news from them.... but like what they pointed out - what if they selectively send out rejections, and NOT TO ALL. All i was asking from these programs is a little courtesy....as much as they are asking us for a little bit of cooperation to "not call" or "please inform us if you want to cancel an interview". Like what I said, I have been very tolerant about so many things. Sure, 3000 applicant files is very stressful to go through, WE UNDERSTAND, so much that its losing its meaning already because i heard that excuse used so many times. Anyway, I also HOPE they UNDERSTAND if we ask a little bit of courtesy from them coz this is a very stressful time for applicants. It always pays to show a little courtesy... BOTH WAYS.

carlosvedra, i am pretty much in your shoes, awaiting for the answers. i usually check on the forum each day for the posts on interviews. if i do not get anything back from the hospital whom i have applied, i personally take it as an rejection. why? though u r placed on 'consideration' list, the chance of upgrading from 'consideration' to 'iv' is almost impossible unless someone cancels his or her iv.
