Hi everyone, So it's October 13th. On the 11th I found out I failed my CS taken on July 17th in LA. I flipped, and am still freakin out. I paid another 1200. Fedex'd the app to my school and it's already going from there to philly for another go around. I'm going nuts now because I'm looking at dates and there is nothing before December. My question is, is the same calender with openings periodically posted the same as the screen I'm looking at? Nothing seems to be opening. I'm just checking it out constantly now for the last few days. By the way I failed in ICE. I don't know why but I did ok for everything else, just the data collecting I guess. Can anyone please give me advice? I'm going nuts here. All my apps are in, my interviews are scheduled too. Thank you to anyone who has anything to say.

Dates constantly open up, especially 2-3 days before the date. Set up e-mail notifications which sends you emails when spots open up. By the way, are you a US grad or a IMG?

Let me first say thank you so much for responding to my post. I'm sorry if I made anyone panic about the CS. I'm an IMG from the caribbean. I do a pretty decent job in the hospital, going for IM. This just is depressing. Why i'm bugging now is just that I'm waiting for them to post an accepted app on OASIS so I can register pronto. Is the calander that registered applicants use different from the one I'm seeing? And oh yeah, thank you for all the pneumonics you guys are posting as well. I've been memorizing them, re reading the FA.

i believe that it is the same calendar. but yes, there are going to be spots opening on short notice, so best be ready to fly out at any moment and time. at this point, cost shouldn't be the issue. so do FA and practice doing a full history-taking and patient encounter. that's the key. good luck.

Ok cool. As long as I can get a spot I'll do whatever I gotta do of course. I plan on finishing the FA before I even get my app approved by Philly and gonna sign up for USMLE world asap as well. Do you think that any airlines have some kind of service to arrange an open ticket? That way I can bounce out to wherever I gotta go.

Dude you are not alone I failed that stupid exam twice both in ICE first in data gathering and now in patient notes. I have spend fortunes to get through this exam, I took it in Houston on Sept 7th and I got my results on OCT 10th. I am very frustrated with the whole thing, I have to pay $1200 FOR THE 3RD TIME AND GET A FREAKING WINDOW by December 31st TO MATCH FOR 2008. I HAVE APPLIED TO MANY PLACES BUT THIS EXAM IS KILLING ME.....CAN ANYONE HELP........ I am thinking of requesting a re-check because this time I just A BORDERLINE fail hoping there is a computational error. Could anyone tell me if you know whether it made a difference going from fail to pass or I am just wasting my money...............and what are my chances of getting a interview without CS scores........

ntr100, i think FA will be enough for this exam. just make sure you know it! read it three times if you have to. it wont take long either. Ive also subscribed to the usmleworld and didnt find it much helpful plus if you have two three days to study, i think youll get overwhelmed. that was my feeling anyway, so i decided to solely stick to one source. i dont think youll find an open departure plane ticket, but if youre in the US im sure youll be able to find a decent next day flight. if needed. anyway. best of luck to you and chimera.

FA is more than enough Read FA instructions carefully and do instructed steps in the real exam, you will pass.

Hey guys, I also failed in ICE, in data gathering... I did not want to believe my eyes when I open the score report on Oct 10... And all other stuff was BORDERLINE including English (but I passed two other components), and all this is despite I am an associate professor at US University... I was truly offended by their score of my language proficiency... Anyway, I was lucky to catch a Dec 4, 2007 date to retake the exam in Chicago… If anyone would like to practice cases over a phone, give me PM so we could set up a phone conversation…

Doc_to_be, I understand you completely, I failed twice. Now I am again reading FA and ready to retake it. Are you american born or not? Be strong, exam sometimes is like lotery, you have to be lucky. Let;s hope for the best!!!

Thanks for your words... No, I am not a US-born guy, as most of us out here... It's a stupid lottery, and the odds are less and less favorable... I passed Step 1 and 2CK, but got trapped with this exam... What I don't understand is that how SPs (they may be good actors, have no problem with that) can judge someone's English proficiency without being a philologist or linguist... By marking a checklist? Or by the level of personal satisfaction??? I would rather prefer to be recorded and then listened than appreciated by those dudes... Sorry, I am very upset.

Doc_to_be, I agree with you absolutely!!! I think and fell the same way. I also passed step1 and CK and failed twice CS, looks like I will never pass it, but have to live and try again. Let;s keep each others strong!

Guys you may already know this but i just wanted to say Practice with a real person who is either taking the exam or have already taken it. I personally know a few friends who struggled with English pronunciations but passed. I think of one reason that migth have played a role was they practiced with different people atleast on several occasions. I know people failing this exam even after taking KAPLAN but these courses are just one day or two days. We have to practice more especially if we are strange to American culture. It can be our body language, maintaining a proper distance or our connection to the patient on a different level. So only thing i can add is practice with several people, timed mode just like its a real exam. Goodluck.
