I know this is a pretty subjective question, but how many interviews on average would u think is necassary to be reasonably sure of matching?

There's a study out there showing that AMG would have a match rate of 99% if they rank continuously for 16 locus. Don't know how many for IMG like us?

Approximately 90% of independent applicants (about half of them are nonUS-IMGs) match if they rank 13 programs in non competitive fields ("competitive" for AMG...so better called almost imposible for IMGs include: Dermatology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery and Radiation Oncology) Aprox. 70% if they rank 8 programs Aprox. 50% if they rank 4 programs Aprox. 30% if they rank 1 program check CHART 14 on page 17 here: http://www.nrmp.org/data/chartingoutcomes2007.pdf for all applicants the number of contiguous ranks is the best predictor of match succes.... " Each additional contiguous rank added to the rank order list increased the odds of matching by a factor of 1.30 to 1.36 for U.S. seniors and 1.09 to 1.19 for for independent applicants" other important predictor for IMGs is step 2. so reasonably? I have no idea but this, although limited, data say that if 70% (maybe reasonable) sounds ok...about 8 ranks.....

sadly on those statistics they do not include some data like : visa status, months of USCE, number of USLORS. med school rank. and can not include other subjective data but very important like: interview performance, strenght of US Lors... that's why prediction of getting interviews seems so difficult as it is predicting a succesful match outcome
