Kaplan Qbank USMLE

Hi all
I got my result today and I passed. This forum has helped me a lot right from step 1.Thanks guyssmiling face
I gave my exam on 21st Sep, I won't say its a cakewalk but one thing is for sure, how well you perform depends on how strong you are mentally during those 9 hrs. The very thought that we'll have to give the exam for 9 hrs is quite tiring to the brain. I suggest we focus on every question as it comes and forget about the big picture, that definitely works. I figured that the requisites for this exam are 50% Focussed study + 50% of 'I CAN DO IT' attitude.

I started my prep from May, I took whole of that month for IM, 15 days for Surgery, 20-25 days for Pedia, 15 days for Gynaec, 5 days for Psychiatry. As one of my friends suggested I studied 2 subjects at a time, except for IM...for example Surgery n Gynaec,, Pedia n IM ( that would be my 2nd revison of IM)
I did combined study in the mornings for abt 2hrs and that was really helpful as I would discuss a 3rd subject with her. That way I would be in touch with 3 subjects everyday. I also wrote notes for everything as I had very short time for prep( my mom says--one time writing equals to 10 times reading ) . I started UW in July ( wish I started it a month earlier). Its jus great, I got an average 60% in it. I revised it but only the incorrect ones this time, I felt revision of entire UW would have helped me more. Then gave NBME for 1,got 490sad....did one more revision and gave Form 2,got 450sad( Was devastated, didn't know what to do and how to improve my score. I thought I need to do more questions and did IM questions from Kapla Q-Bank and went ahead and gave my exam. As I told earlier it was tough....lengthy questions, running-out time....but I thought since I decided to take the exam, let me deal with it just as I am doing UW at home, that removed lot of tension from me and I was able to think clear. I took 15 min break for every 2 blocks, I would wash my face with cold water ( vagal maneuversmiling face )have some snack and go back to my seat. I was not too fatigued by the end of 9hrs.
I had PTSDsmiling face) after my exam, thanks to the support from my loving husband and friends I was able to survive that.(poor things I made them worry more than me abt my examsad )

Hmm........one step is over and the real struggle is ahead.....

Hi, Congratulation!!
I m just starting my study for step 2.
One question plz..if you don't mind.
Regarding Kaplan Q bank, do you think it is better to choose int.med than all subjects if i can manage to do only once form of them? I have limited fun and time so i would like to focus more on UW. Thanks.
All the best..to yousmiling face

Hi
Ofcourse I won't mind....I did only IM qs' from Kaplan Qbank and wrote notes for the important points and revised the same before my exam. Doing IM qs' definitely helped me but I can't comment on other subjects as I didn't do any qs' from them. What all I can suggest is, be thorough with UW and if you have time, go thru atleast the IM qs' from KQB.
