hi every body
i don't know what to say...i recieved both email and oasis score at the same time...i failed with 64/162...
actually i expected this failing score,i don't have bad feeling now,even i am crying now but i will not loose my hope, i want to start again when i back to us ,just i need your help and support...i don't have goljan notes ,so if any of you have them can you favore me and send them to my email...my email address is : shohreh57@yahoo.com
please any advice about when is the best time to take the exam again and what to do will help me my friends....thanks for all your support...

I Am so sorry to hear about that my dear friends Shohreh and cleopatra,but there is good news for you you can take it again and yo can make it.May be you didn't read some of my posts this was my second attempt and i passed.You can do the same even more and you will make it.
i know it is not the right time to talk about this but when i saw your posts after you knew your result i said to my self they are ready to go again.And i was very happy and admired you because of your positive approch to the matter this is how it should be.which is the right way and that is why i said with confidence you will make it no place fo bitterness because you already came a very LOOOOOOOOOOng way a little more and you are there.so my dear friends in what ever you want i will be with you if it helps.
There is one important fact you already wittnessed what the exam looks like,you know what to expect so you are going to deal with it accordingly.you are going to work on your weakness according to the the exam report you recieved from ECFMG then you will make it.i am telling you from the bottom of my heart at first glance i was sorry but when i red the whole thing you were talking about study materials i and the right time to retake the exam again was happy becausei knew that YOU ARE READY TO GO AGAIN

but fanaye sure has given some good words. fanaye, i never knew that it was your 2nd attempt. kudos to you.

Guys, hope sustains life.....i know its very dissappointing but then whats written in destiny is what happens....u gave the exam, u exacty know what happens there and where to stress more......give ur best now and then leave the rest to GOD

Sfk congrats for your result . yes it is my second attempt i wrote about my expriance in another forum.
Shoreh The right time to re take the exam is when you can answer questions in what ever way you are asked for this ,try to see from your score report which areas you have to work hard for those i think you have to do not only the questions but also the notes you have.Select high rated materials recomended by friends who scored high in the forum and try to use those materials you selected high rated, after you read those you can start doing q bank like UW.Still while you do those you might have to go to read the notes for those questions where you got wrong repeatdly.
For me my weakst points were physiology renal and endocrine as well as biochem for which i had to read from the biggening high rated materials i had on the back of 1 aid and those recomended by the forum then i started doing questions from kaplan i had old q bank cd i did those questions first,then i did UW q bank since i red almost every thing again my score from the biggening in uw was high and i finshed with74%.at last you can evaluate your self by taking NBME self assesment.
My friends CLEOPATRA and SHOHREH i know what you feel at this moment because i had the test from that cup, it is bitter not because it will remain bitter but you can make it sweet the solution is right with you LOOK AT ME

hye Cleopetra and Shoreh,
i dont know my friends what to say,but i have hope 4 u and prayers withh all deep hearts,evry fall got a rise,i know my frinds are courageous enough to not to give up.i see bright side that u still have chance to get real nice scores,i have seen my few fernds with same hard time,but they just did it and u will do it for sure,so keep spirits high,we always here 4 u

I want to give a brief summary of what i did b4 and what i plan to do the 2nd time
i read kaplan all subjects and i cannot say 3 reads but thats what i did at least 3 times but there was alot of time apart that it didnt feel like a read it that many times i moved twice in last 7 months once same city differnt house and 2ndly to anew city but i did sit down and read well last 2 1/2 months i also used first aid and kaplan Q bank 3m and uw for 1 month i did not do nbme time was short and i did not want to freak out as i could not extend my time i do have goljan audio and rapid review patho book and i regret to say i did not use it i tried and i felt i did not have enough time so i just reviewed heamatology .
now what i plan to do i am thinking of giving tha exam again end of february i'll do kaplan biochem,physcio,pharma,histology and behavioural,i will do goljan for patho and rest and all sublects again from first aid i will do nbmeand if my score is not satisfactory i will take an extention this time although i did extend my time last time too,anyways let me know what you think my friends and i will use uw too.

Salaam guys,
I had my exam on november the 28th and was a silent observer on this website. I was an average student at Ross (3.0) and alhum. got a 215/89 on my step. The preparation technique i used was used by four of my friends before me and we all passed on first try and got decent scores although they are not the spectacular 260s/99s i read on here about all the time.
After finishing basic sciences, i spent about three months studying. All i used was First Aid and did every Kaplan Q bank question. At first, I took about a month to pretty much memorize the entire first Aid book. Afterwards, i would do Q-bank questions everyday for one week and review every single problem and the explanation whether i got it right or wrong. Then, if i knew that the information in the explanation was not in my First Aid, i would turn to that particular area and write the info in. Then at the end of the week, i would review first Aid all over again. It would take be about 5 days now. Then i repeated the process again until i finished all 2000+ q-bank questions. So, by the time i took the step, i had the First Aid with all my notes from Q-bank reviewed about 4-5 times. So, this meant that the week before the test, i had everything fresh in my mind. I guarantee if you guys follow this, you will at least get above 200. I hope that helps, and i just wanted to share that with you because it helped me out and hopefully you guys get a use out of it too.

thank you AFGHAN _MD md for your kind advice it is practical,
Cleopatra your plan is good but make shure to do your studies with out interruption.Besides reading your books try to do as much questions as possible
that is where you can see clearly the thing we should master from certain area
The fact you are doing a certain question gives you un opportunity to know about
the concepts contained in the multiple choice.So try to do as much questions as possible.
cleopatra i admire your positive attitude you are un example
Shohreh how are you my dear i am shure by now you are ready to go collect your energy while you are with your relatives come back and beat it,this time once and for all.

i am realy decided to get a very high score
cleopara it is very good to see that you are ready to take the exam at the end of february....
i like to take it soon too but i am not sure about the time,because this time i don't want to make a risk...
what i did before was that i just read kaplan lecture notes and uw for 6 months with a new baby...
this time i want to read goljan and first aid but i don't have them
so please every body who has these notes would you please send me...i realy appreciate that..or if you know the link that i can print them please let me know...

Hey shohreh nice to hear from you,its hard to prepare exams and with a baby its really difficult i know i have 2 children older 6&5 and my family helps me take care of them but they are always in your mind,and i try my best not to interfere and insult my mother when i ask them if they brushed there teeth or did there homework i am very grateful and blessed without her it would be impossible for me to sit down and study with full concentration.
anyways i understand you dont want to rush into doind step 1 again it really makes alot of sense,as for me i want to try and make it to 2009 match if i can so i will try and this time i will do nbme and i can add 1 more month if i feel i need to
anyway my friends goos luck i will start my studies tommorow again
