After surgery of an inguinal herniation, the pt experienced numbness of the medial thigh, what nerve damage?
A femoral
B obturator
C ilioinguinal
D iliohypogastric
E pudendal

how will you describe the sensory nerve distribution for obturator nerve ?

Any hint to differentiate both ?

You're so right!

Yes, in surgical hernial repair, there are 2 Nerves that can be damaged:

1)Iliohypogastric:arrow: ipsilateral abdominal wall anesthesia
2)Ilioinguinal :arrow: anesthesia to ipsi penis, scrotum, medial thigh.

What goes through the inguinal canal? The subcontents?

Male= spermatic cord
Female= round ligament os the uterus

:arrow: ven=pampiniform plexus

It's not inside the spermatic cord; it's inside the inguinal canal together with the spermatic cord. wink

How about iliohypogastric N? Where would we find that since it's damaged in hernial sx?
