why do most people apply for step3 with CT?
I've checked the list and I've seen more states that have no postgrad requirements. Is there a difference between CT and say Maryland (state I intend to apply with), because i haven't seen any on the site.

it is not a trend since smaller states will require less time for application processing and liscensing !
doing so in CA or MD that are both known for having a lot of doctors would only differ in processing time, so if you have a tight schedule go for smaller states !

Hey Guys, I have just checked the FSMB website and it seems that all states require some post graduate training ? even CT and MD require 2 years of post graduate training ???

SweetSoul, try to proceed with the application and you will see that certain states do not require postgrad training before you take step3... that list is something else for some kind of initial licence .. i dont quite understand either.. but when you try to apply specifically for step3, all states are listed again and it is there where i could not see any difference between CT and MD. on the above link, click on the state of interest and see its specific requirements as a .pdf file.

Please let us know how fast is your application going!? I also plan to apply with MBC and my time schedule is very thight! Thank you and GL!
By the way...does anyone know what is the importance of the board we apply with, beside the time of processing the application!?! I mean...we dont' have to proceed and get a licence with that board, do we!?! And we can sit for step 3 in any state...is that corect!?!

hi all
i am running very tight schedule. i need to have my Step 3 result before match deadline ie 27 feb. that translates into the fact that i should give step 3 before 30 jan. my cs result will be out on 5 dec.
I want to know what is the earliest time i can apply? and what procedure should i follow to get a examination date before Jan 30. I read in this forum that if i apply in small states the processing time is less. What is the average processing time of CT ? any state with lesser time for processing?

i applied b4 i received my ECFMG cert hard copy but of course u need the date u were certified to apply... so u have to be notified online...i got the notarisation done without any certificate, just passport was needed as id...i applied to california and within 10 days got my scheduling number and exam date

Do i get noitified about ECFMG certification online or through email? What about the Christmas holidays in December? Any body knows how long they will be? and what impact they will have on my application?

anastamosis: i didnt get any ecfmg certification email...i cheked on the oasis site and thats were i got the info...it was there 2 days after my ck results were posted on oasis...dont know bout the holidays though

ECFMG cert is what u get if u are an IMG after passing step 1, 2 CK and step 2CS...u dont have to apply for it ..u get it automatically...yes it is required to be able to apply for step 3, specifically the date on which it was issued is required to fill the step3 form...permanent validation sticker is something to do with english test and the CSA test both of which we dont need to take now so i have no idea if they are valid or required for us...i am ecfmg certified and am not eligible for permanent validation (no clue if that is important but thats what my oasis says)...and i have registered for step 3 without applying for permanent validation...hope this helps!

It seems that they have not verified my medical school transcripts. Therfore they have not send me the ECFMG certificate. I can not apply for step 3 until then.

anastomosis m in the same boat as u r. but i have no idea about the application procedure. can u let me know more about it? i find info on their website very complicated.
and what about preparation for the exam, have u started ? how long does it take ? and what all resources u planning to use ? thanks

I also received a letter that they have not verified my medical school transcript. However my medical school diploma is already verified. Where do you check to see if they have verified your medical school transcript. My medical school has sent the verified med school transcript last week, so I am trying to track the progress of this med school transcript verification.
