got the result today. my preparation was not great, as I did not have enough time and energy. did not feel much confident before the exam but could not postpone as all dates till feb2008 were booked. practiced 4-5 cases only. thanks to all this anxiety I could not sleep the night before the exam the exam is conducted in a very professional manner, and after a couple of patient encounters i was feeling a lot better. my tips for the exam (a lot of the points have been talked about adinfinitum, but then again cant resist myself) first aid is more than enough. i did use a little of usmleworld, but i went back to first aid which i think is better and better organized take 30 seconds before entering the room, and think about how u will proceed. i think i was the last person to enter among all applicants talk as if this is what u do everyday. be nice because most simulated patients are nice. greet, drape, wash, be gentle, thank cover the basics. no need for extensive history or rxamination. be prepared to summarize and discuss management. give it 3-4 minutes. at the 10 minute bell, u should quickly finish whatever u are doing, and go into the counseling part. i wrote the patient note. my handwriting being a little bad, I tried to be as clear as possible. though that slowed me down, still 10 minutes is more than enough. be specific. write the DD and investigations first. i did not complete one case. majority of the cases went very well, but i think 3-4 cases i could have done better. even if it was a case not in first aid, or a case not prepared, all u have to do is to ask basic questions. the answers u get should be able to guide u into probing further/examination/counseling dont overstay your 15 minutes. u have more to lose if u dont get out quickly enough. dont make long excuses, say u have to go and be out all the best for your CS Q
