hi everyone just got my OASIS updated and found out that i passed my CS.although i wasnt quite sure of how well i did,i was still convinced that i hadnt performed very badly.here is a brief detour through my test. i prepared for about ten days,6-7 hours per day.I used FA and UW for my preparation.i did not have a practice partner for physical examination so thought of practising on my husband but somehow that idea did not materialize also.i think it is extremely difficult to practise on someone who isnt a doctor as he cannot give a very profound feedback on your performance.i ,however, practised history on the phone with a couple of people and i would especially like to thank Salmonella(my all-time favorite studybuddy:nod ,shazia choudhary, farid and fateh bazer bashi. about the exam: the exam isnt too tough if you are fluent(even with an accent),have the transition sentences in the bag, know the proper investogations and have gone through digitaldoc's blogspot.I am not a mneumonic person, but trust me,for this exam mneumonics are everything.learn as many as you can and apply them in every situation that you can.dont try using your head too much while you are with the patient as it wont work.you function like a programmed robot when you are in the room and there is no time to improvise on your skills. I dont know if this is a general trend but emergency room cases are gaining popularity as the curent best method of gauging our expertise.you should expect to see 3-4 emergency cases on your exam. The ER cases are hard-core ER cases, nothing more nothing less so practise them well. protocol and addressing the patients well is the key,the essence of it.i might have faultered in the history department,i dont know, but i never forgot to address them with their names, drape them properly, look to their comfort and counsel them and sum up my history in the end. ABOUT MY EXAM: my exam was in philadelphia.started at around 9 in the morning.the proctors were very nice and helpful, had no problems there.first break was after the first five cases, next after four cases, and then there were three more to go.try using the bathroom in each break as all that running and fretting makes you polyuric . i paid special attention to my patient notes.they should be elaborate, yet concise.all that you need to take with you is your doctor's coat and stethoscope.rest is all provided there.my pen stopped working in the middle of an encounter and so i had to rely on my memory when i sat down to write the PN.so such incidents happen.but you shouldnt lose your composure over such minor occurences. WHAT I WORE: this is not as big an issue as a lot of people make it out to be.i just wore a simple white,cotton,button-down shirt with black trousers and sandals with a decent heel.i had a little make-up on and pearl studs in my ears and a pendant on.tied back my hair in a ponytail.i bought new clothes for the exam but people there werent too dress-conscious as a few girls turned up in capris also.so everything is okay as long as it is modest and doctor-like. i'd be glad to be of any help to people who havent yet taken the exam.

I am also planning to take it in Philly. Can you kindly advise about the accomodation options available there. I will take an international flight three days prior to the exam date.

i am sorry oldkid!i actually stayed with my brother-in-law so i dont know much about the lodgings there.but the centre is in the philadelphia downtown and so i am sure there must be many inexpensive hotels and lodging options there.

I have approximately one month available for the exam after my scheduled CK. Do you think its sufficient? I haven't read a word about it. Also, do you think doing a course such as CY3NY or others can be of any benefit?
