Servus, I am an IMG from Munich, Germany and passed CS today. I am so glad. I did not know what to expect because I did some minor mistakes during the exam. I took the exam Aug 8 in Philadelpia. The team there was really ok, gave us a great lunch and made jokes all the time which lightened everyone up. I stayed at the sheraton nearby which was great because it was so close, but I payed 135 Dollars which I guess is what you pay now adays for a hotel room and 15 Dollars to park the car in their garage. I drove from Boston to Philiadelphia which took me 6 hours and 8 hours on the way back. During the exam I amde several minor misakes. I practices the handwashing and the draping, so I did not do any of these mistakes. I was very nervous with the first patient and ran out of time and did the PE very rushed but politely and gentle. I ran out of time with a nother patient. I forgot a couple of things in about half of the cases, like forgot MMSE, or eye exam, gait test with woman with vertigo (think about that, that is the first thing you do in the real world) and I forgot to cousel the girl who I thought was pragnant. But she was so upset that I forgot... Often I only had one differential for the patients. If I did not know the differential, I told the patient. I had a strange patient with all wild symptoms (I cannot say more due to copy write reasons, right) and I just said like I learned in real life (you now what, what I see today in you puzzels me a lot and I don't exactly know where this comes from. Lets do this... talk to another doctor, run a test, talk more at lenght later and so on). One more thing I thought about during my 8 hour car ride home and initially thought that I might have failed. In real life, I love my patients and I joke around with them when I think that humor can ease the setting. I did the same thing in the exam, and the patients went with it and it has not affected my pass. Also, I was not afraid of silences. When going to the doctor, somethimes there is a silence. Often I said: Give me a second to think about this really quick.. and I took my 15 seconds to do so and then usually started with a resumen of what the patient presented with. I did not have a clue what was going on in about three or four cases, but I remained calm and did the whole thing with CC PMH and so on. I think my physical exam is my strongest part in real life so I succed on this artificial exam. I forgot almost half of the exam in most cases, in one case the patient had pain in a joint and I did not even look at the joint (again, artificail situation which would never happen in real life). Anyways, I guess the conclusion is that I tried to enjoy the exam but that some of the cases where challenging because I did not get the hint right away. I stuck with the stradegy and stayed positive. I did no big mistakes but many many little ones (basically every case). I hope this helps a little. When I was waiting for the results I read this forum and it helped me little to read the experiences of others. The best of luck

Hi! Took Step 2CS in Philly last year. The test center is ok, prepared for 2 weeks with First Aid for Step 2CS (the book is indeed kind of 'self explanatory') BTW: one of the rules of this forum is to write in English...
