Hello,
I decided to take Step 3 to be eligible for H1-b visa when the residency programs start in summer 2008.
When is the latest possibility of taking Step 3 to be still able to have everything ready for H1 visa on time? Is April 08 fine?

This subject really interest me too. I received an email of a program telling me that they are interested in me joining their program but after I passed step 3...I don't know what would be the dead line for this opportunity... December 2007?? or can I take it in January?..

according to the official sites...step 3 results can take upto 6 weeks...give another week for delays and time for transcripts to be updated by eras to the programs and for programs to doewnload...the rank order list final date as per nrmp schedule page is 27th feb...so ur application must be updated with step 3 results b4 that ...so maybe the first 2 weeks of january wuld be a safe bet...but for step 1 and 2 prometric didnt take exams during that period (i think ..not sure) so if thats not a prob jan 2nd week shuld be the latest...this of course is what i think

I took step 3 and received result 20 days later.
So I think if you want H1 visa, take step 3 ASAP, latest date may be in May (not sure, depend on country you lives)
