i remember seeing one guy [ must be a guy!] with following. i dunno where, here or usmleforum.

99/99/CS/96 [ nice try! more credible than 3 99s!]
2 yrs clinical research
4 pubs , 1 in Nature [ For the love of God!!]
applied to n places
got n-1 interviews.
matched MGH IM
visa H1

Now punchline is that some people really believed this bull@#*$ and were showing reverence for him until one wise guy checked out and posted that there is no foreign grad at MGH admitted at least in 2006 in IM.

It's OK to fantasize i think but it's ridiculous to post those fantasies on a serious public forum [where most people will take you for your word] under a comfy pseudonym and try to intimidate already tortured souls.

You seem too good a person to believe that someone else can do it just for the sake of impotent satisfaction. It happens and happens at lots of online forums let alone USMLEs. I visit certain music forums [ guitars] and I repeatedly see people faking impressive abilities just for no reason. And some of them fake it with such wiseness it is difficult to believe they are faking until someone exposes them or you notice a certain attitude or gross variations of the same thing on various posts. So it happens and happens a lot. There are lots of personalities, otherwise completely normal and even nice, who take satisfaction outta such relatively harmless imposting forum where anonymity is a blissful cover for fake self satisfaction. Not everyone lies but I always take extremes on anet forum with a fistful of salt.

Lol this is so funny and the trend is not only in the Match Forum its also in the Step 1 forum. 260+ in 6wks or 250+ in 8wks using low yield resources ( as if that really mattered). Now the members prefer to have some random discussion abt almost anything other than academia. Now i dont whether thats good or not but cud some of the Old Gurus come back and revive the academia in the forum. wink

I do believe there are many 99er who studied very hard....
if only few weeks study + low yeild material...then the chances of getting a high score is definitely lower, i think.
USMLE is a hard exam, it's not easy to get a high score with few weeks study.

It took me almost 2 years, a lot of balls to get 2 low 99s... grin

Im not saying that people who got high 99s within less time are full of it, but who knows maybe they are true...

I have posted my scores be4, for those who want to check them out you have to be a forum leader, its because I posted them at http://www.prep4usmle.com/forum/thread/53752/2/

So let me translate that to plain English
NNL did not fail the test and I actually got a 99 on step1grin, actually people still do not belive my grade or nnl supposly grade

The best one was from a guy that said he Passed with 99 and when I ask hes 3 digit scores he said 185shocked.
Another one said he was practicing in the US, and then was asking for a free copy of Goljan to review Pathologygrin

But the seniors that are in step2 nd step1 have posted their grade and I believe that is their grade and they got scores in the 80's and 70's and fara got 90 and I know she got 90.

another funny one,

forum friends,
i applied to 48 programs in IM, and got 36 interviews so far. Did not hear anything from rest 12 programs.
I know you guys do not believe me, I score 99/291 in step 1 and 99/289 in step 2. I just passed step 3 with 97.
I am 2006 grad.
Do you think i will get rest 12 interviews ?
good luck to you all.

It's not too late dude
