Sorry it took so long for me to post my experience but I've been busy with match stuff plus the initial shock had to wear off. Here it is: USMLE World-52% first time random and timed then second time 65% NBME-450 USMLE CD was getting over 70% on each section Step 3 (july.07) 73 (181) I'll admit that I didn't read the CCS cases to the end while studying but they were right in the middle on my score report. I used FA for Step 2 and 3, Crush And Swanson's for geriatrics and sports medicine. I studied for 4 months. I would like to take it again in 4 weeks. Does anyone have any advice? or study plan?

Sorry to hear that. Try again: CK notes. UW, Kap qbank (time management), UW CCS, FA, Swanson, USMLE CD

I saw some questions from kaplan qbank and I thought they seemed easier than the real exam. Also, do you mean Kaplan CK notes? Do you think I can do it in 4 weeks (full time)?

sorry to hear that lestat, But ur NBME score is good. when you said your CCS preperation was reflected, did u mean that you failed only coz of CCS?Do they give seprate performance review for CCS and MCQs? how did u fell about the MCQS?

No, I don't feel tha tI only failed b/c of CCS. It was right in the middle, perhaps if it was a little higher I would have passed but I don't think that's why I failed. Day 1 was super hard, very gray. I was running out of time on every block. I never had a time issue before but that doesn't mean anything. I don't know how I could have prepared better for the MCQs. I think I overthought the questions. Perhaps I had too many sources. I am doubtful about the NBME now, b/c I've seen people on the forum with lower scores passing the test.

hey lestat, everyone says the same thing about stp 3-qts were long and very gray.could u please tell me how long was an average qt?did u need to scrool down the screen? Also i was just trying to analize the MCQ performance. When did u take CK,did u do UW for it?Coz right now when i am doing UW MCQs they seem complementary to what was in CK.they seem to be adding more facts and drawing attention to the things not so frequently found. did u do Conraf Fisher's qts?I dont think i will be able to do it or either Crush, not much time left.If am done with UW will devote rest of the time for CCS practice.my exam is on 3&5 nov.Not too many things going on on the interview front either.

I took CK at the end of november so the knowledge was pretty fresh since I completed step 1, 2 and CS in 6 months. I did UW for step 2 as well. I did not do Conrad Fisher's questions. There's only so much you can do. It's not so much that the questions were long, they were just gray!!! I found myself just staring at the screen having no idea how to proceed which was def. stressful. You have to love the USMLE mind game. I should have just clicked on an answer and moved on since there were probably other questions that I could answer later in the block. I feel that the key to passing this exam is your approach which is something I feel that I am lacking in (any suggetions anybody?), and not actual amount of studying time. Also, don't underestimate CCS. I think it's great that you are reviewing them. People say it's approx. 25% of your exam. That's a lot! Esp. since it's so much easier to study for cases than the MCQ's. I will def. be focusing on them. As long as you are done applying, you can only wait for interviews. Just focus on Step 3. That's what I'm doing since it's the only thing I can do right now that makes me a better candidate. Good luck on step 3 and the match!!!
