why not CD16?

CD 16 is Fc receptor on NK cells, so to activate NK you need Ig. And you can find it on macrophages and mast cells too. Compare to CD 56 which represents NK ( you can see it only here). And as you know Babesia attacks RBCells, is an intracellular parasite, which lack MHC 1 , so can not be lysed Tc.

very nice explanation.. one more thought, as NK cells identify cells without MHC-I, how do RBC's normally stay protected from the action of NK cells?
