Hello Applicant to the Internal Medicine Residency at Abington Memorial
Your application has been reviewed but we will not be offering you an interview at this time as all of our interview dates are completely filled. So far we have received over 3500 applications for 20 positions. About 350 interviews have been scheduled.
Because you are an applicant we would like to meet, your application has been put on our wait list. As cancellations come in we will review those of you on that list (there are about 125). In order to be selected from the list you need to have passed steps 1 & 2 on your first attempt both with a score of 90 or above. Your CS must also have been passed on your first attempt. We will not invite anyone from the wait list unless they have passed step 3 with a score of 80 or above on the first attempt. This applies to US citizens, green card holders and anyone wanting any visa.
We usually have some cancellations the end of December and in January. If you have met the above qualifications by that time your application will be considered and a few of you will receive an interview call from us.
I realize that it must be frustrating to receive a letter like this, but I wanted to keep you informed as to your progress in securing an interview at Abington Memorial. If you want to contact me by email in December or January for an individual update, please feel free to do so. I'll be updating you as a group as we move through the process.
You are all excellent candidates and I regret that I cannot arrange to meet every one of you right now.
Some of you will receive prematch offers from other programs prior to hearing from me again. If you do accept one, I would appreciate if you would share that information with me so that I can rejoice with you that you are now a step closer to realizing your dream of serving a residency in the United States.
Helen Nuskey, Recruitment Coordinator
Abington Memorial Hospital.

drxyz ........... Helen at Abington is very good when it comes to communication .....

thanks praderwilli and congrats mph ....... good catchsmiling face

I never thought taking step 3 can be important even for applicants who might need visa.
hmmmm....

  #55

what a crap. might have asked for i.m board results as well, who knows after taking so many precautions if that person doesnt make it in the end.so to be on safe side why dont they ask board qualified as well to complete list of requirements.

I am really surprised at the Abington hospital. They sent a rejection email to me and a few other people on this forum saying they need 95+ on both step 1 and step 2 and a step 3 score of above 85. How can they send different criteria to other people??mad

Congrats mph
It seems to me that you got IVs for any program you have applied.

No, I have 5 rejections so far (take on-hold as rejection). 3 of them are due to visa. They should have said this criteria in their webpage, otherwise I wouldnt waste money. Averagely 1 rejection with every 4 ivs.
Hope u pass the dry days soon. I m sure u ll.

Hi All,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I have been a silence observer of this forum but decided to share my experience so far with you , I have applied for IM and Neuro this year, I've got two IVs in IM so far and about 8 rejections, my IVs came in September but now I am getting rejection almost everyday.., I have a question for you guys, since I applied for Neuro, I decided to apply for some IM programs that offer Prelim too, there are many IM program that offer both categorical and prelim and I checked both when I selected them. I wonder how they react to my application when they see my selection for both cat and prelim , so my question is how selecting both cat and prelim in one program affects their decisions? I appreciate your input

LOL..well i received a rejection from abington too. saying they changed their criteria after they recd a truckload of applications, I am not too impressed with their reasoning....i wld rather prefer a simple email saying get lost! I really cannot believe that they were not expecting a huge load of applications...

All said and done, i truly respect programs which are sending me a rejection if they cant interview me....it is better than those who neither interview nor tell u that u are rejected.... and keep the applicant pondering till the end!

Agreee 10000000%%%%...... Atleast we deserve a response be it rejection or acceptance. Silence is more painful than a negative response.

Totally agree ............ programs should be made to give a response every 15 days or something ............ really ....... waiting is a big pain.nod

  #66

Ok this is a kind of response i got today from suny upstate. Dont know what to make of it since they already invited alot of people for IV.
(PS> I NEVER EMAILED THEM OR CALLED THEM)
I would like to ask for your patience regarding email communication during the application process. We have received over 2300 applications to date. The committee reviews files as quickly as they can, but it's very difficult with so many excellent candidates to make quick decisions.
If you send an email and do not hear back from us right away, please be assured we are not ignoring you. If it is an update on your file, we place it in the notes section. We also download daily so your file is up to date if you upload new material, we really do not need an email informing us to download.
If you send interview choices, please be patient. They are usually processed within 2 days of receipt (taking into account holidays of course).
I understand you are anxious to hear back from us, however it becomes increasingly difficult to get through the files if we spend 3/4 of our day reading emails, some of which are the 2nd or 3rd email from the same applicant asking if we got the first email.
Thank you very much for your cooperation in this matter, we appreciate your understanding and patience. I assure you, the committee is working hard to inform all of you of your application status as soon as they possibly can. I just wanted to take a moment to update you. There is no need to reply to this email.
Good luck and I am looking forward to meeting a large number of you very soon!
Sincerely,

Need ur advice on my ERAS application

I applied to IM progs on sep4 with only step score in hand. Got my Step 2 ck results last wendnesday n Step 2 cs results today. I opted for automatic transmission on my USMLE scores in the application. Do I need to update any part of my application and if so where?

Please give ur valuable advice

I think there is a part in basic profile, which asks if youre ecfmg certified or not. You can change that. And since youve selected the auto transmit, transcripts should have been resent (check the sent date on them) If in doubt, it is never harmful to call the ecfmg guys and confirm.

Hope you do great in the match! Good luck nod
