I feel like we are all running blindly. 2 yrs ago, we were all worried about usmle tests, how to pass and score well. Great anxiety over if the test will be easy or hard, will i be able to finish it in time. Then we waited anxiously for the results. After that, we ran after people to give us some USCE and USLOR. We were worried and anxious what will happen tomorrow, the first day at observership/externship. As Aug was approaching, we were all worried again how to ask for LOR then waited anxiously what was written in LOR. Then came writing Personal statement which was crazy atleast for me because i had to write 4 different types. After applying, i constantly worried about my clinical gap thinking why would they call me. Then the calls came and now i am worried about traveling and scheduling ivs such that i would be done in least possible time. There is another worry that i'm trying to block for the time being is my interviewing skills. This will be my first job interview ever and stakes are too high. Then I will wait anxiously about the match day. After that we will worry about how the internship will go, will i be able to take care of patients well enough, will i pass my internal evaluations. Then there will be boards after which Practice during which we will be going thru daily anxiety and stress. Being responsible for alot of people cant be a walk in the park. So basically this will NEVER END. I think this anxiety and stress will be every where in every other profession unless we stop going out of the house and do anything. I dont know about others but now i am working on leaving things alone. Worry only when its necessary and when something can be done and needs to be done about it. If there is nothing i can do i will just move on from that thought. So guys just start preparing for interviews because thats the task at hand. You may not have recieved an IV now but by NOV you will have alot. Goodluck!

Since this is a very important next step in our carrier, everything associated with it brings up some anxiety. I dont remember being this anxious while I was still in MBBS and hopefully wont be so once I get into a decent residency.

what decide says is much more relevant, even sarika will agree , that we were much calmer and composed , while in our mbbs, and will be again in our residency ( GOD WILLLING) As these are not the normal anxieties , but life defining ( or ruining ) moments

I dont know puchpal but as long as i remember i have been anxious. So its just my personal pledge that i will start working on eliminating it. During my MBBS years, i had always been very crazy nervous during exams and before results though the reasons were different ofcourse. I did not use to study at that time. It was still life defining because the difference was not only passing or failing but being a doctor or not. There was no option of a second attempt atleast for me.

Hey sprint I think your creds are great and u will get lots of IV's!! God bless and stay hopeful!!! I was beginning to stress out because for 2 weeks I did not receive a single IV and after that bad period of time IV's started coming so just try to remain positive and good things will come GL to u!!

Well I agree with everything that Sarika said,,, there is no use of being anxiousabout anything that you cant help....but there is much to learn from the experience that all of us are going through,,,,In march 2007 , my friends who had participated in match told me repeatedly that your scores are great , no doubt but only having gr8 scores isnt enough atleast for IM..IM is getting really really competitive and if u want to match here , u MUST get sum USCE and USLORS,,, I admit that I only half believed them , I did try to get sum USCE but first it was not easy, 2nd I couldnt come and stay in US for a couple of months anyway ...so I couldnt get it...Now I would advice EVERYONE who wants to match in IM that DO GET USCE , spend money on it if u have to...and if u cant get it , then DO APPLY to other specialities for back up...
