Got back from the center a couple of hours ago. All in all, it was an ok experience. Most Qs from IM with the rest pretty equally divided b/w peds, surg, o&g and psyc. Not many epidem or ethics. No audio or video questions at all which was surprising (but they're all prob experimental anyway). My 1st 7 blocks were ok. A lot of straightforward questions and not too many long questions. My last block was crazy! Almost all the questions were extremely long and vague. i couldn't believe it.
Abt 3 ECGs, 2-3 CTs, 3-4 derm pics, several xrays, no MRIs. I took a 5 min break after each block with a 15min break b/w blks 4 and 5. I didnt feel tired till the 7th block. The exam center got colder after each block so i was glad i brought a jacket (don't forget).
My prep time was 7 weeks. I used UW(timed and tutor), kaplan notes and FA. A lot of ppl dis FA but i think its a excellent revision tool. I did all three NBMEs. I saw at least one question verbatim. My last NBME was form 2 which I did yesterday : 243. The questions on the real exam are generally longer but I think the diff level is most similar to form 3.
I'm exhausted. I've been on a usmle marathon all year. Step 1 in june, cs in aug and now ck. I can finally take a break. What a relief. This post isn't very detailed cos i'm tired but I'll answer any questions anyone might have. Good luck to everyone still preparing.
