is it just me... or do all of your libraries or study places packed with usmle takers. omg. i have a silent study room i go to, that has about 40 ppl. no jokne, one out of 3 people are taking the step 1 . it is a little disturbing. becauses some of them i personally know as being like 6 semesters ahead of me in my school, and yet... they are STILL studying for step 1, and have done nothing since they graduated their basic sciences. kind of scares me. but theni recall people that studied fa, kaplan, goljan for 4 months and passed. anyways... are you guys all nice to people you see with step 1? everyone , like stranger wise that i see, i avoid!. they always are so nosy, trying to see the material i have and keep looking to see what sources i am using and if they want them, and are so secretive about what they are studying. thats why i love this site, i am so eager to hep people, as are others. its funny, i wonder how many people from my library are currently logged onto this site lol

Same , even non strangers or friends or friends' friends . But there are few good ppl too . That's the reason I never go study at library , or even book store, will only go pick up quick , used to be spending looking in book store. Not any more, will see in amazon & look what I like & pick, choose the book quick . Also this site give alot info re; good books , review , Qs books. ur not alone, if u live in big city like me, it happens at libraries & kap center , med book store, in train, on bus what ur reading ,& they will show they are reading too , but not the one u do not know , only the common one . Ignore it at library or study at home like I did , just be discipline. GL

well i don't study in a library but at barnes and nobles or borders... and there is always people reading some med book or reviewer, with FA out on the table... some people use it as a motivator... it can be comforting to see others in the same boat... and also pushes me to stay focused if they are... but i understand if it is a stressor... if it is... don't go... you don't need the added stress... just studying and doing questions are more than enough stress!

lol see thats y when a person comes up with a 6wks study plan and a score of 250+ its natural to be skeptical cos looking at the ppl we meet in libraries and study places we find them studying for months. Then if u ask them abt the study materials they give a look like as if u r just so inept that u can even comprehend the materials so y shud they bother. We all at the forum have been helping ppl so if we r helping ppl here then ofcourse we will help others outside the internet. The question u asked how many r logged on well ur guess is as good as mine.

"are so secretive about what they are studying" I especially hate this attitude. Here in my university, I met a fellow PhD (same profile as mine) and told him - dude, I am planning to give Step 1 in Dec. and I suggest you too plan for your Steps soon before you finish your PhD so that you won't waste time .. blah blah. That guy just nodded and changed topic. Few days later I came to know from another guy that this first guy already gave Step1 and CS long back and is now prepping for Step2. How secretive can someone be.... I was a fool to show concern for him. Its better to help strangers with no followups rather than trying to help friends and feel bad about...

EXACTLY!! no hassles, eh? no disappointments either. in real life, things can get so complicated. so much easier with nameless, faceless online identities. the times we live in....
