70 yr old pt recently diagnosed with ca colon. he is told everything abt his illness and all treatment modalities and the prognosis is discussed wit him. he refuses all treatment and says he would like to die peacefully at home without ant treatment.wat do u do?

A- treat him anyway

B- ask his relatives to convince him

C- ask him y he doesnt want to get any treatment

D- respect his decision.

E- provide him wit some literature regarding his illness and the treatment.

C. Ask him why he doesn't want the TX. We need to gather as much information as possible before honoring patient decision.

like I said in your prep JE .. decide what you would really do [in this case I would want to tell him, "shit man I agree with you, even if the treatment does prolong your life, you'll be so miserable, you'll wish you were dead. I say empty the savings account, max out the credit cards and head up to Montreal for strippers, and gambling") and then pick the opposite for the exam. "Sir I understand this diagnosis is hard to accept, and that you need some time to take it all in. I don't want you to feel like you have to make any hasty decisions. Or not completely understanding your treatment options. So why don't I give you this pamhplet about colon cancer. And schedule you back to see me next week, to answer any questions you may have, and help alleviate any fears. Then we can take it from there."

ya u r rite ivonne. although i had chosen D.

u got to ask the patient wat his reservations r regarding the treatment. u got to get him talking.
