Hello People, I'm a Maimo resident, PGY1. Last yr I was in the same boat as you all. If you need some help/advice for your match process. I'm here. I'm very busy with the program but I'll try to help.

Thanks wamba. One silly question, how did you do with your luggage, did you take them with you to the interviews?

1. I did not take my luggages to the IVs. I think that in a certain way, it does not look good and professional. Go to your IVs hand free with a simple wallet for your notes. Be professional. you can always Keep your luggages to the hotel; it will never be an issue. 2. Pls whats it like working there? It depends on your personality and your ability to handle stress. Some of my PGY1 colleagues are really stressed; 1 or 2 want to quit; but some other (include me) think that it can be handled and one can even enjoy it. But I do admit that it is busy and stressful. Whats the training like? The training is very good. Most of the PGY 2 and 3 are very good; some are really good. Very few are bad. So I'm confident that I will learn a lot. During the orientation they told us: "you are not supposed to know anything now but you will be very good at the end of your resy". I'm confident that it is true. And are u able to live comfortably on ur salary? the stipend is not very high but so far, I have lived with it. and I have a wife who doesnt work and a kid.

Thanks for the reply. I mean if you have to check out early at the hotel before going to the interview, did you leave your luggage at the front desk of the hotel? Or did you checked out the next day after the interview?

Silenced MD, I always left my luggages to the front desk. how did u prepare 4 ivs ? The first thing to know is that the scores, the lors, PS (all your application) are important to get interviews. Once a program call you it means that they are interested in you even if you dont have 99/99 but 75/75, or even if you have no past medical experience and you compete with people who already have resy or fellowship. This is very important to know for 2 reasons: the first, some people go to the IVs overconfident because they have terrific scores, lors and past medical experience to then find out after the match that the programs they were interested in did not chose them. Second, other people, because they have low scores and no experience are too shy during the IVs. These 2 attitudes reflect negatively. So remember, when you go to IV, you are in a point 0. It doesnt matter if your application is terrific or terrible, if you perform poorly, you're out, if you are great, you're in even if you had 75/75, 3 attempts each and no past medical experience. They know your application.

Thanks for helping us out, wamba. Just wondering if we need to find out from the PC who will be interviewing us so we could find out his previous publications, research interests etc... Thanks.

Drtweetie, you cant know in advance who you will interviewing with. when it is your turn, you go with the interviewer who is available. drgeorgie, no clue here. Never been to Rochester.
