i think the only difference is FMG - doctors who graduated from a school outside the US and is a non-resident of the US (not a citizen or green card holder) IMG - all doctors who graduated from schools outside the US, (citizens, green card holder and non-residents) only advantage is visa issues!

FMG gets to come earlier in the alphabet ...

ok...I looked it up FMG are like carribean medical school students (they were green card holders or citizens when they went to medical school)---did 2 years clinicals in usa hospital...and 2 years basic science outside IMG--are people who did all of the medical school outside of the country....their clinicals were done outside of usa...

@ dr.roh , what u had said regarding FMG & IMG is true but the term FMG is no longer used.....even the carribean grads are called the IMG's nowadays

And I dont want anyone to think I am bias..........my dad is an IMG, & me and my brother are FMG....my sister just started school in usa so she will be an AMG.......so we got a good mix going

No difference. International grads - foreign grads all went to school outside the USA. International is a little more polite.

Some people took offense to be labeled as a FOREIGN medical Grad, so they changed it to INTERNATIONAL medical grad. FMG is no longer used..........
