I have applied to many programs in internal medicine. I put for every application that I want both prelim and catigorical(when both are present). Is it OK? or should I choose only one. Plz help me about this issue. Thank you.

I believe It confuses a little bit .... usually there are more than one person reviewing applications...often there is somebody for preliminary and others for categoricals... So it may be looked as indecision / desperation / and what we would like to : "very interested" .... So why not apply to some to preliminary, and others to categorical..... If you are going to preliminary medicine you are expected to go to some "advanced" position too (derm, opht) which makes it also more competitive for this reason... unfortunately we'll never know how they decide... Dr. Fisher's opinion here: http://www.prep4usmle.com/forum/thread/60827/3/ on post reply #57 bbb's point of view would be interesting too
