Sigmoidoscopy has limited utility (35-40 cm) and usually goes with SFOB... So, if I am asked about these pure two, I would go with colonoscopy...

This also depends upon the Q and the Pt... If the Pt is elderly, with a history of diverticulosis, the sigmoidoscopy would suffice... In a younger Pt I would still go with colonoscopy...

So I should pick sigmoidoscopy.... ....sigmoidoscopy was the answer.....but wondering why not colonoscopy (which is what I picked---cause thought it was the best) ....but since it was asking next (NOT BEST) after FOBT...thats why sigmoidoscopy

dr.roh, can you please post the entire question? that would help in distinguishing between the two. Was it for screening or after the patient had a GI bleed or anemia or blood loss? knowing the whole story would help. Thanks.
