i did step 2 cs a week ago. and these are my major mistakes, please give me an honest opinion if whether or not you think i paased.... -in 2 pt encounters i finished examining the patient and was just about to sumarize when the bell went. -in one patient encounter, she was a heavy smoker, and i ran out of time, didnt have to counsel her on smoking, finished everything else. -in all of my patient notes i ran out of time, and i always missed social and sexual history (i asked it, but wasnt able to write it down) ....ok guys, please let me know what you think honestly. im getting nervous....

After each case I also remembered something I forgot to do or say, or write down. (well not every case but a few)... -I also ran out of time WHILE doing a physical on 2 cases... I had to quickly say something like "I have to go now but we'll work up your case and get back to you" or something like that.. i don't know if thats right or wrong though. -Another case I forgot to counsel on condom use -One case I forgot to write the vitals. If you did everything else well, there is room for some error... I passed, thank God. Don't sweat it... Mostly everyone passes CS unless you went wrong in a major way or did something dangerous, or were totally off on your English or bedside manner. Congrats for finishing the exam, now relax till you get your PASS!

what do you mean writing the Vitals DrVirgo...? I'm not sure, FA PNs just say Vitals Normal, and that's how i wrote in every case i saw on the exam...? is tht wrong...? do we have to write down the vitals as they are given in the doorway info...?

What I meant was on one of my notes I forgot to mention "Vitals: WNL" in my note If they are normal you can just say WNL (or within normal limits) OR if there are only a couple abnormal values you can say something like: "Vitals WNL except Afebrile at 101.5; Tachycardic at 110." OR you can just ALWAYS write out ALL the vitals (but this approach takes time)

Oh another thing: I read that you should avoid using the word: "normal" Instead describe what you mean... eg, Instead of saying "pupils normal", say "pupils equal round reactive to light and accomocation bilaterally (PERRLA B/L).

Thanks DrVirgo... I also used Vitals WNL in the exam. But i have been confused abt many people on the forums saying they forgot to "write the Vitals". That is what i wished to clarify. thanks for helping out on the issue.
